$250,000 Grand Nationals: It All Begins at Cleveland County for FASTRAK Southeast/Mid-East Region Teams

Lawndale, North Carolina - This coming Friday and Saturday, October 7th and 8th the FASTRAK Southeast / Mid-East Region Pro Late Model race teams will begin their quest towards their share of the $250,000 FASTRAK GRAND NATIONALS! 2011 saw 163 different teams representing 13 states and 1 Canadian Province qualified to enter the largest grassroots racing championship in the country. Night #1 at Cleveland County Speedway in Lawndale, North Carolina is crucial for all of the teams of the Southeast / Mid-East Region as it will provide their foundation headed into the finale events at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee. Just a few weeks back more than 50 drivers entered the FASTRAK Bill Hendren Memorial at Cleveland County. Many of those teams have qualified and are expected back for Night #1 of the FASTRAK GRAND NATIONALS. The Cleveland County event will pay $1500 to win and will provide all of the teams in attendance with their first points (all teams start with ZERO) towards a potential $30,000 FASTRAK GRAND NATIONAL Championship.

Both Brandon Umberger and Max Blair will enter the month of October riding the momentum generated with their individual FASTRAK Touring Series Championships already under their belts. Umberger picked up his first career FASTRAK Southeast / Mid-East Touring Championship while Blair repeated as both the Northeast Touring Series and City Chevrolet Weekly Racing Division Champion. These two will surely be among the favorites but there are 161 other drivers who could just as easily take home that $30,000 check. All drivers will begin the GRAND NATIONAL Regional events with ZERO points. After Night #1 in their individual regions, the best of the best in Pro Late Model competition will converge on Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee for a two-day / two-event shootout to determine the final standings. Umberger has a pair of 2nd place runs this year at Cleveland County at each of the 2 FASTRAK Southeast / Mid-East Touring held at Cleveland County.

Also expected to be among the top contenders on Night #1 will be the winners of this season's two previous Cleveland County FASTRAK Touring events. Both Jason Pack and Steve Hendren are regular weekly competitors at Cleveland County and qualified for the GRAND NATIONALS through their strong weekly showings. Other perennial FASTRAK Racing Series regulars like David Smith, Lee Cooper, Vic Chandler and Chad Hale will look to score big and pick up a momentum building win of their own. Cleveland County fans should also expect to see some unfamiliar invaders from Beckley Speedway in Beckley, West Virginia; Princeton Speedway in Princeton, West Virginia and Thunder Mountain Speedway in Hanover, West Virginia as they are included in the FASTRAK Southeast / Mid-East Region. Other drivers expected to be on hand include young guns like Jordan Dill, Jensen Ford, Blake Bentley and Trent Ivey; Georgia bandits like Parker Herring, Brian Connor, Brian Ligon and Frankie Beard; veterans like Doug Sanders, Hotrod Lamance, Larry Blankenship and Roger Pate; and many, many more. A complete list of the drivers eligible to enter the FASTRAK GRAND NATIONALS can also be found on the FASTRAK website.
