Chilton Captures $1,500 to win Super Late Model Special at Lake Cumberland Speedway

Burnside, KY-October 8, 2011- After being off last week for unseasonably cold weather, Lake Cumberland Speedway returned to action on Saturday evening with a $1,500 to win special for the Super Late Models and Michael Chilton of Salvisa, KY would pick up the win in the event. Other feature event winners included Tommy Gregory of Monticello, KY in Modifieds, Keith Decker of Somerset, KY in Super Dirt Stocks, and Adam Gregory of Gray, KY in Front Wheel Drives.

The Super Late Model A-Main would see Michael Chilton jump to the race lead and pull out a big lead in the early going, only to have to start working slower traffic by lap 10. Victor Lee would take second one lap later and would begin the process of reeling in the leader in traffic when the caution waved on lap 21 for a spin by Brian Hooks. This would close the field up and Lee would pressure Chilton on the restart, only to see Danny Hatcher make contact with the wall in turn three before a lap was completed. The final restart would see Chilton and Lee pull away to settle it among themselves, with Chilton taking the win in his Chilton Lawn and Maintenance/Central Painting/Dial Painting/Blue Moon Farms/Harrod Farms sponsored #97 Revelution Chassis mount. Lee would take second, with Tim Taylor, Dillan White, and Jeff Watson completing the top five. The remainder of the top ten would be Danny McGlothlin, Johnny Wheeler, Rod Carter, Jr., Terry Tomlinson, and Greg Hansford. Twenty-two entries would see Chilton be top qualifier at 13.035 seconds, while heat race wins went to Chilton, Skylar Marlar, and Victor Lee, with Rod Carter, Jr. winning the B-Main.

The Modified feature would see Tommy Gregory take the lead at the drop of the green flag and never lose the top spot in picking up the win aboard his Red Buck Cigars/Advance Auto Parts/Bodean’s Tattoos sponsored #101 Bandit Race Car, powered by a Cropper Race Engine. Mikah Reams would take second, with Tommy Bailey finishing third. Ben Petrey and Joe David Turner would have a great battle for fourth throughout the race, with Petrey getting the nod over Turner. The remainder would be Lonnie Gregory, Mike Petrey, Tony Lambert, Stacey Decker, and Glen Hounshell, Jr. Nineteen entries would see Tommy Bailey be the top qualifier at 14.385 seconds, with heat race victories falling to Bailey, Tommy Gregory, and Reams.

Keith Decker and John Smith would be the class of the field in the Super Dirt Stock main event, with Decker pulling away from Smith in the final five laps to take the win in his unsponsored #2. Smith would finish second, while Chad Spradlin taking third. Doodle Farris and Steve Perkins rounded out the top five. Eleven entries would see the heat race checkered flag captured by John Smith.

Adam Gregory would take advantage of misfortune by Eddie Strunk and inherit the race lead on lap 2 of the Front Wheel Drive feature event and pull away to the win aboard his Friends of Coal sponsored #22 machine. Blake Gregory would take runner-up honors, Johnnie Adams finishing third. James Petrey and Neal Daulton would round out the top five. Twelve entries would see heat race wins go to Blake Gregory and Eddie Strunk.

What happened to Skylar Marlar tonight? I saw where he didnt start the feature.. Its my opinion but I think its time for him to try a new chassis, maybe a revelution.. Just something to change it up. He is a talented race car driver..
