Depends on what you need for a final drive will make the choice for the transmission and rear end gears. How big of a track and how much RPM you want to turn the motor are what is needed to determine that. There is no best transmission just the best one for what you need.

What Brand of oil should i run?I run regular 10W40 pennzoil, 5 qt. jug @ walmart usually about $13. Quaker State is good too, I get that @ menards when its on sale for $1.99/qt. Add a bottle of STP oil treatment, change every 4-5 nites. Been doing this for 5 yrs & never had any problems.

for a ford 2.3 are you kidding me you use 10W40....and you don't float your valves....wow are you racing in the winter

Rotella 15w40 if your running on a 3/8

Valvoline 20w50 that has zinc added into it...for those really hot days, bigger track or a lot of laps

I don't care what people say any additives will change the viscosity of the oil to who knows what

Yep, conventional 10W40...in a 2.3L...in the summer...small hyd. cam, only goes to 6800 RPMs and Im just about there at the end of the straights on 1/4 mile medium banked dirt track.

Always used castrol gtx 20/50 never had a problem. This season switched to brad penn 20/50 and I was having problems with either the lifters pumping up or floating the valves. Is this because of the oil?
