Open Practice Cancelled Tonight; All Systems are GO at Lake Cumberland Speedway October 21, 22
Burnside, KY-October 20, 2011- Due to rainy conditions on Tuesday and Wednesday, along with cool weather today, Lake Cumberland Speedway track promoter Brandon Hardgrove has cancelled the open practice scheduled for this evening at Lake Cumberland Speedway prior to the 21st Annual MAC Metals Lake Cumberland Classic.
However, racing events for the weekend are on as scheduled for the 21st Annual MAC Metals Lake Cumberland Classic this weekend. On Friday October 21, the Super Late Models, Modifieds, Outlaw Super Dirt Stocks, and Front Wheel Drives will all practice and time trial, with the Modified, Outlaw Super Dirt Stocks, and Front Wheel Drive divisions running heats and B-Mains, if necessary, for their respective divisions. On Saturday October 22, the Super Late Models will run their heats, B-Mains, and the 100 lap, $10,000 to win 21st Annual MAC Metals Lake Cumberland Classic, along with the feature events for the Modifieds ($1,200 to win), Outlaw Super Dirt Stocks ($500 to win), and Front Wheel Drives ($500 to win).
“We apologize for not be able to have practice on Thursday evening, but with the rainy conditions, the track just hasn’t dried out and we did not want to risk tearing up the track for the rest of the weekend. Friday and Saturday will see sunshine and warmer temperatures and we will be ready to sling some clay on Friday night”, stated track promoter Brandon Hardgrove. “We want to assure all the racers and race fans that this event is going to take place this weekend and we want to make sure the racers have a great surface to compete on. We want to thank Royce and the crew at McGowan Excavating for assisting us with our track preparation this weekend”, added Hardgrove.
Activities on Friday October 21 will see all gates areas open at 4:00 p.m., with the drivers meeting set for 7:00 p.m., followed immediately by practice, time trials, and heats for the Modifieds, Outlaw Super Dirt Stocks, and Front Wheel Drives. At the conclusion of the racing program on Friday evening, there will be a live band for everyone’s entertainment.
Activities on Saturday October 22 will see all gates open at 3:00 p.m., with a special meet and greet drivers autograph session set for 5:00 p.m. in behind the main grandstand area. There will be a drivers meeting at 5:45 p.m., followed immediately by racing action, beginning with the Super Late Model heats. There will also be fireworks as well on Saturday evening.
