Loco-Motives Team 37 Finishes 6th at The Ultimate. Heads Back Out on the Bandit Trail Next Weekend…

Booper Bare Racing and the Jim Stasiowski owned Loco-Motives team made the five hour trek north into the Raystown Lake area of Pennsylvania to run “The Ultimate” sanctioned by the UFO Racing Series. The Rockbridge Baths, Virginia veteran saw Hesston Speedway for the very first time early Saturday Morning when the team pulled into the 4/10 mile oval. What was originally scheduled to be a 2-day event was rescheduled for a Saturday only show due to a cold and windy Friday night forecast. With 4 divisions and a lot of race cars in the pits, it promised to be a full day of racing.

With a blind draw setting the Heat Race line-ups Booper drew a number good enough to start outside the front row of Heat #4. With only three qualifying it was imperative to have the car just right. When the green waved, Booper powered around the outside of turns one & two and drove away leading all 12 laps of his competitive heat race. UFO series rules state the top 3 in each of the 5 heats races had to redraw for the feature starting spots. Unfortunately the re-draw put Booper all the way back in row #5 for the 61 lap $8,800 to win feature. When the Green flag waved the Loco-Motives/RoushYates/Mastersbilt by Huey began its charge to the front from the 10th starting position. Booper had just moved into a battle for 4th spot when the caution was brought out for an accident. After a lengthy yellow the race was restarted and the car got up on the cushion hard in turns one and two with Booper doing a great job keeping the car out of the wall. After losing a few spots Booper started marching back towards the front and had just run down the 5th place car when the checkered was waved awarding the Loco-Motives team a well earned 6th place finish.

“We had a good car again this week. Billy, Chris & Merritt worked hard all day in the bitter cold” said Bare, Sunday afternoon from his race shop. “It’s a tough deal racing against the quality of cars we do and having to start that far back. It’s hard to believe you win your heat and start 10th. Congratulations to Jamie and Huey, they had the car exactly right” added Booper. “The car rolled hard on the right rear suspension and seemed to be just a little off the last half of the race. We will tear it apart and go over everything this week. Jim has provided me with great equipment and I’m proud to be driving for this Loco-Motives Team, the wins will certainly come. I couldn’t do any of this without my crew who give up their time to participate in this sport we love” added the Virginia veteran.

This weekend, plans have Booper back behind the wheel of the Sprouse/Cromer Motorsports Mastersbilt for the rescheduled Steel Block Bandit event at Pennsylvania’s Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex. With 2 races left on the Bandit’s schedule Booper trails point leader Walker Arthur by only 8 points. Time Trials & Heats will be on tap this Friday with the B-Mains and the $4.000 to win feature on Saturday. If by chance the weather changes the Bandit’s schedule again, look for Booper to have the Loco-Motives #37 ready to go at Hagerstown for their annual OctoberFest weekend.
