CARTERSVILLE, GA – Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN is the latest dirt track to join the growing list of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series tracks for the 2012 season. Drivers in the Crate Late Model Division at Clayhill Motorsports will compete for a weekly track point fund and a National point fund that pays $10,000 to the National Champion.

The addition of Clayhill Motorsports to the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series family of weekly dirt tracks, gives the series its first track in the West Tennessee market area where the economical form of dirt late model racing is quickly beginning to grow in popularity.

“I went to another track that was running by NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series rules and watched how closely they teched the car and I wanted that at my race track,” Clayhill Motorsports Promoter Dale Nelson said. “I think the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series is good for the drivers in that they can compete for a $10,000-to-win National Championship and not have to travel away from their home track to do it.”

Several of Clayhill Motorsports’ weekly Crate Late Model drivers have competed in the past with the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Tour, and are familiar with the series. The 2011 Clayhill Motorsports Crate Late Model Champion Chris Tays of Corinth, MS is former traveler and Top 10 driver on the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Tour.

“We are happy and proud to have Clayhill Motorsports with the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series for the 2012 season, and looking forward to working with Dale Nelson, his staff, and the competitors at Clayhill Motorsports,” NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Director Roby Helm said. “The addition of Clayhill Motorsports closes a big geographical gap the series had between Arkansas, Missouri, and Mississippi. This will strengthen and benefit all of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series tracks and competitors.”

Drivers at Clayhill Motorsports on Saturday nights will compete against drivers at other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series tracks through the country each weekend during a 27-week season from April 6, 2012 through October 7, 2012 through a points system. A competitor’s best 14 weekly point totals will count towards their National point total.

Drivers can compete in multiple races each week with their highest single event point total counting for that week. A driver can also earn up to 100 Weekly Racing Series Bonus Points that will be added to their best 14 week point total. A driver can earn as much as 800 points that represents 14 50-point wins and 100 Weekly Racing Series Bonus Points.

Weekly Racing Series Bonus Points can be earned in two different ways. A driver can earn 25 Weekly Racing Series Bonus Points by competing in four straight events at a single track. A driver can also earn 25 Weekly Racing Series Bonus Points by competing in a NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring event during the Weekly Racing Series season.

The dirt late model race cars in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series are powered by the economical GM Performance Crate Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications. There are two engines to choose from, the 400 horsepower aluminum-head 604 engine and the 350 horsepower steel-head 602 engine that gets a 150-pound weight break.
