David and Anita Ferrell Not Returning as Bluegrass Speedway Track Promoters

Bardstown, KY-October 30, 2011- At the conclusion of the 2011 Championship Awards Celebration this afternoon, David and Anita Ferrell officially announced that they would not be returning as track promoters at Bluegrass Speedway.

The Ferrell’s have spent 12 seasons as track promoters at Bluegrass Speedway, with their first season there being 2000. During their tenure at Bluegrass Speedway, the Ferrell’s hosted the Dirt Track World Championship (2002, 2003, and 2004) and also brought the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and World of Outlaws Late Model Series to the ½ mile high-banked clay oval, along with numerous other regional series. They were also instrumental in helping to get the track national television coverage on ESPN2, SPEED, and Outdoor Channel.

The Ferrell’s would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all the race teams, racers, race fans, and the track employees for their support of Bluegrass Speedway during their time as promoters at the track. “We have enjoyed our time at Bluegrass Speedway and we are really going to miss the folks that have been so supportive of us. Anita and I feel extremely privileged to have been around so many wonderful people at Bluegrass, but the time has come for us to step away and pursue other things”, stated David Ferrell. “Our future plans are uncertain at this time, but we are really thankful to have been able to promote racing at Bluegrass Speedway”, added Anita Ferrell.

Sad day for LM fans in south-central ky. First Barren Co., then Ky. Lake, now Bardstown. Not many LM tracks left down here in this part of the state.:(

What's everyone gonna complain about next year? Hope someone takes over the place.

Who actually owns the track and is anyone else looking to take it over?

I think the owners name is Charles Hamilton, but could be wrong.

David and Anita are good people who did a great job at Bluegrass. The issues there are a result of the owner, not the Ferrells. I'm not at all surprised to hear they're leaving.

Nelson County as a whole is USELESS. Or should I say it this way. Most of Nelson County that is. Too many "YUPPIE" AZZ KISSIN...Wanna be political figures in place there that really do not like racing at all to start with. Too many regulations liek a RIDICULOUS Curfew. David and Anita did a fine job.....but believe this- NELSON County is a responsible party as well. I say David needs to stay in racing and get over to the "POND" and show everyone what a real race track can be like.
