CARTERSVILLE, GA – This Sunday’s 40-lap $2,000-to-win NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring event at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS will set the $20,000 Championship table for Dan Breuer of Troutman, NC and two-time series champion David Earl Gentry of Murfreesboro, TN.

The Magnolia Motor Speedway race will be the next-to-last race of the 2011 season for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Tour. The season finale will be on December 1-3 with the $10,000-to-win 7th Annual World Championship Race at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL.

Going into the weekend, Breuer leads Gentry by just six points. The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series will open the weekend with the $5,000-to-win 6th Annual Coca-Cola Zero 75 on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS. A total of 115 laps of main event racing this weekend will determine who has the advantage going into the last race of the season.

The “Black Ice” racing surface at Magnolia Motor Speedway has historically lent itself to three and four-wide racing for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series, so Breuer and Gentry will not only have to compete with each other, but also with 40 plus other competitors expected from ten different states.

Sunday will mark Breuer’s first appearance with the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Tour at Magnolia Motor Speedway. In the first 14 races of the 2011 season, Breuer has 1,256 points with two wins, ten top five finishes and 13 top ten finishes.

Gentry only has one Magnolia Motor Speedway appearance with the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Tour, and that resulted in a second-place finish on October 22, 2006. So far this season, Gentry has 1,250 points with one win, eight top five finishes, and 13 top ten finishes in 14 starts.

Three drivers have posted wins in the four past NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring events held at Magnolia Motor Speedway. Mike Boland of Cuba, AL is second on the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS All-Time Career Win List with 10 victories, and two of those have come at Magnolia Motor Speedway in 2006 and 2010. Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS won at The Mag last season, and Justin McRee of Tuscaloosa, AL posted a MMS series win in 2009.

Other top NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series drivers expected at Magnolia Motor Speedway this Sunday afternoon include Matthew Turner of Dawsonville, GA, VP Racing Fuels Rookie of the Year point leader Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL, Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS, Steve Cooke of Mt. Airy, NC, Mark Tice of Avon, MS, Frank Wilson of Harold, FL, and Tootie Arnold of Bude, MS.

Top local entrants expected include Jeremy Shaw of Millport, AL, Evan Ellis of Plantersville, MS, Shay Knight of Columbus, MS, Tony Gray of Coker, AL, Mark Stokes of Steens, MS, Chad McCool of Millport, AL, Chris Ragan of Ramer, TN, Lee Ray of Columbus, MS, Jamey Boland of Cuba, AL, and Eric Carr of Bruce, MS.
