How long do you race your car before replacing with a new one ?

Depends upon several factors. During the off-season we'll check several things and then decide. Some things we check and think about:

1. How well did the car perform last season?
2. Are we getting behind technology-wise? If so, can we update our car?
3. Look very hard at welds and tubes. What damage do we have, and what will be required to fix it? Do we have corrosion (rust) that is significant?
4. Are we able to scale and setup the car the way we want? Is the car changing in ways we didn't expect (could be signs of metal fatigue)?
5. Are tracks or sanctioning bodies changing rules again?
6. If we race it another year, will it become too old to have much resale value?

Due to budget we’ve tended to race a car for too long, until it’s shot. But at least the target practice relieves some stress!

I never go more than 2 years on a car.By that time I have enough new ideals I want to try to justify a new car. Some of the cars I have sold have won races for years. The owners have told me that the car will still maintain the setup from week to week very easily.
