We are switching to a dry sump system and could use a little help. I have a Dart steel block with a adapter that is bolted where the oil filter would be. Which is the best place to pump the oil in? At the adapter or into one of the ports in the block and cap the adapter? Any other tips you all have would be great also. Thanks Brian

I have done both with no problems but I prefer to put it in the front

We also feed ours in the front...

Either will work.

Thanks for all the help. Now I have a question about the return. I have 3 outlets in the pan. Do i need to have a return from anywhere else?

I like to also scavenge from the lifter galley.

Depends on the block.Dart little m has an open valley so no scavenge is reguired but some blocks like the dart aluminum block has to have a valley scavenge.

I am running a Dart little M. I guess that is all I have for now. Thanks for all the helpful advice.

Do you already have the pump? Is it a 4 stage or a 5 stage? Depending on pump, if you have a 5 stage you will need 4 pickup points on the engine, you can't have a stage "dry"...

Depends on whether the pump has to use a discharge manifold or if it is whats known as an internal bleed. The pumps that dont use a discharge manifold can be run capped on a suction port because all sections are getting oiled.

It is a scp dry sump pump. As far as how many stages it is not sure. I have four inlet and four outlet but only using 2 of the oulets. I bought this system complete off of Steve Casebolt. Thanks agian for all the help.

That is a 4 stage pump, 3 suction and 1 pressure...you will be fine with the 3 suction fittings on your pan...Terry, you are correct, but Ed Wulff told me that even with the internal manifolds, he did not recommend running a suction stage dry...We have one of his 5 stage pumps...

The reason Ed doesnt recommend running a section capped is the same reason I dont recommend it.If you got it use it.Hook it to a valve cover or something.More vacuum more power but as far as hurting the pump,no it wont hurt an internal bleed pump.

Do the Wulff pumps have internal bleed? I have a 5 stage pump from them but the motor is set up for a 4 stage. I was planning on just blocking off the extra port.

They do have an internal manifold, but like Terry said, why don't you weld a p/u to a valve cover or somewhere?
