Ponderosa Speedway Recognizes Lee, Decker, and Hulett as 2011 Track Champions

Junction City, KY- February 9, 2012- Although neither were involved with Ponderosa Speedway in 2011, new track lease-holder Kevin Colston and track promoter Larry Yantz would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge the 2011 track champions at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval, along with the other competitors that completed the top ten in track points in each weekly division.

Victor Lee of Danville, KY was the 2011 Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Model track champion. The title is the second Super Late Model track championship for the second generation speedster at the track known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring”. Trailing Lee and finishing second in Super Late Model track points would be Joey Daniel of Liberty, KY, with third going to Justin Rattliff of Campbellsville, KY, who would be victorious in the Pete Abell Memorial and Glenn Auto Mall 40 events. David Webb of Nicholasville, KY and Michael Chilton of Salvisa, KY would complete the top five in final Super Late Model points. The remainder of the top ten would be Jason Hinkle of Danville, KY, Dustin Linville of Bryantsville, KY (2011 Hugh “Junebug” Rowland Memorial winner), Wesley Brummett of Harrodsburg, KY, Jeff Watson of Campbellsville, KY, and Bobby Carrier, Jr. of Harrodsburg, KY (2011 USDCS Champion).

Stacey Decker of Eubank, KY was the 2011 Ken Towery’s Auto Tire and Super Service Modified track champion. Another second generation racer, the track title is the first at Ponderosa Speedway for this Pulaski County native. Richard Musick of Nicholasville, KY would take runner-up honors in the Modified final points tally, with Benji Lee of Raywick, KY, Dion Benningfield of Lebanon, KY, and Billy Meredith of Hodgenville, KY completing the top five in final points. The remainder of the top ten in final Modified track points would include Tommy Bailey of Corbin, KY, Elliott Despain of Campbellsville, KY, Ricky Arms of Moss, TN, Michael England of Glasgow, KY, and Bartley Grant of Berea, KY.

Rusty Hulett of Lancaster, KY was the 2011 D&D Pallet Recyclers Sportsman track champion. Competing in his first full season on the red clay of Ponderosa Speedway, Hulett would nab his first ever track title in the process. John Smith of Winfield, TN would finish second in the final Sportsman points tally, with Eddie Stewart of Manchester, KY and Johnny King of Lancaster, KY finishing in a tie for the third points position, while Keith Decker of Somerset, KY would round out the top five. Completing the top ten in Sportsman division track points would be Lindsey Decker of Eubank, KY, Rob Jones of Bardstown, KY, Darrell Cain of Richmond, KY, Pherman Stewart of Manchester, KY, and Dennis Cross of Wilmore, KY.
