USMTS's 'BIG 3' Race Tracks!

1. Deer Creek Speedway, Spring Valley, Minnesota

2. Humboldt Speedway, Humboldt, Kansas

3. Royal Purple Raceway, Baytown, Texas and this one STARTS THIS THURSDAY!

All three of these are great facilities that feature 3-WIDE+ RACING and then some! They are must see events for Modified fans every where!!! Down side? Just the miles. While $4 a gallon diesel may make it tough to run for those $30,000-to-win & $15,000-to-win USMTS championships, if a racer can make it to the USMTS shows at just these three tracks, he will get the most out of what he has to spend at the pump.

ROYAL PURPLE RACEWAY kicks it off THIS THURSDAY THRU SATURDAY with the USMTS Texas Spring Nationals on February 16th-18th -- a combined $10,000-to-win weekend! Thursday is the first Casey's Cup Qualifier of the year and pays $2000 to win. Friday and Saturday pay $4000 to win to each night and are the first USMTS National Championship points races of the year. Each night is an independent stand alone show with at least 22 A-main spots open to qualifying on Thursday and 26 A-main spots open to qualifying on Thursday and Friday. A USMTS license is NOT required to race any event. Entry fees at this stage (pre-entry is over) add up to a combined $410 with non-licensed drivers guaranteed a minimum of $260 back. Pit passes are $35 each night or all 3 nights for $100. Making all 3 A-mains pays a combined $800 just to start to non-licensed racers. If you buy a $300 National Championship license that will be good for all 29 scheduled National events, the guaranteed minimum goes up $20 to $280 but the combined start money GOES UP TO $1050! Lots of other positions pay more too except for first place on Thursday and 1st & 2nd (2nd pays $2200) on Friday and Saturday which pays the same to all - licensed or not. See http://usmts.com/news_article.asp?NewsID=12180 for more! That license is good for all 3 shows this weekend and you'll get points in all 3 shows too. If you want to run for Casey's Cup points later though, that will cost you $150 for a separate license at your next Casey's Cup Qualifier event. The next one scheduled is Humboldt Speedway in March.

Then on November 15th-17th, USMTS returns to Royal Purple Raceway by the bay with a non-points weekend to end the season: The 6th annual USMTS Texas Winter Nationals for a combined $9000 to win!

HUMBOLDT SPEEDWAY will have it's biggest USMTS season ever in 2012! This USRA sanctioned Modified track in the heartland is the most accessible location of the three for the majority of the Modified teams in America.

March 16th-17th: TWO Casey's Cup Qualifiers. Licensed required for full points & purse but pays $2000 to win each night (combined $4000 to win) to both licensed and unlicensed. This weekend serves as great tune-ups for the next Humboldt USMTS event...

March 28th-31st: 2nd annual $130,000 King of America Modified Nationals II, the newest MUST-SEE race in the country! Ask last year's witnesses to Kelly Shryock's inaugural KoA win there last year. The event pays $15,000 to win and $1500 to start the 30-car A-main! NO license required! $75,000 purse in just the A-main with over $55,000 going to cars that race in the H-through-B mains on the final day. At this event, you can choose which qualifying night you prefer on a first come, first serve basis just like last year's KoA or Deer Creek's World Modified Dirt Track Championship. Enter early and make this a 2-day, $15,000 to win Friday-Saturday show for you if you like! Cars that qualify on Friday have the same chance at the front row and the pole position as cars that qualify on Wednesday do. The entry fee is just $250 if you enter by March 3rd and everyone who races on Saturday gets at least $300 back. It pays $700 to start the 28-car B-main with $1000 going to 13th place in the B. The top 12 in the B make the A-main. If you choose to qualify on Wednesday or Thursday and would like an extra chance to qualify should you have a bad night, you can purchase a Mulligan at the time you enter for an extra $100. Must be purchased when you enter so that would bring the entry fee up to $350 with the same $300 guaranteed back on the final day. Raindates: April 11th-14th. See http://usmts.com/Documents/entry_20120328-31.pdf for more details and to enter!

June 22nd: This one-night stop at Humboldt is a USMTS National Championship event that pays $4000 to win on a Friday night. Grain Valley, Missouri has one on the following Saturday night too that also pays $4000 to win.

August 10th: 'The Hunt' is back again and is known as the The Hunt for Casey's Cup sponsored by Casey's General Stores in 2012. Qualify for The Hunt by running those Casey Cup Qualifiers. Then starting on August 9th, you can tackle 17 events over 6 weeks for a $15,000 Casey's Cup Championship. The Hunt license will cost $150. Each race pays at least $3000 to win and again, it matters not if you have a license to get the same win amount. Humboldt's $3000 to win Hunt race comes on this Friday with Grain Valley on Thursday and Wheatland & Monett, MO on Saturday and Sunday making this a 4-race, $12,000 to win weekend!

DEER CREEK SPEEDWAY! Saving the best for last? This USRA-sanctioned track may arguably be the best Modified track in the country!

April 28th: $4000 to win USMTS National Championship event! Rice Lake and Fountain City, WI team up on the Thursday and the Friday to make this a 3-day, combined $12,000 to win weekend.

May 26th: $2000 to win Casey's Cup Qualifier! This is the 4th race in a 5-night trek across Iowa and Minnesota for a combined $10,000 to win.

July 7th: $2000 to win Casey's Cup Qualifier that makes a good tune-up for the best paying Modified show in the nation...

July 25th-28th: 2nd annual $20,000 to win World Modified Dirt Track Championship! More details will be announced but a similar format to last year's inaugural WMDTC won by Brad Waits (not even a USMTS regular!) and similar to the King of America format with a few more $$$ and awards!

September 1st: $3000 to win Hunt for Casey's Cup event! This is the 4th race in a 5-night trek across mostly Minnesota with one in Iowa for a combined $15,000 to win.

September 22nd-24th: This may not be the 'grandaddy' of them all when it comes to midwest-style Open Wheel Modified racing but it most definitely is the BIG DADDY OF THEM ALL! The 14TH ANNUAL USMTS FEATHERLITE FALL JAMBOREE! Combined $15,000 to win last year over 3 great nights of racing and it'll settle the Casey's Cup Championship as well so $30,000 may be on the line over the 4th weekend of September. (September has 5 weekends in 2012.) Last year, the 3 A-mains also combined to pay a record $1900 just to start - NO license required! Lots of other awards at this show too.

With the USMTS staff on hand to run all these races, a traveler can take heart that EVERY ONE OF THEM will be well ran, fairly scored, equally teched and weather permitting, fast-run, over-quickly type shows. This is their 14TH SEASON with promoting experience beyond that even. It's way past their first rodeo!

By my math, these 12 weekends at just these three tracks pay a combined amount of around $92,000 to win with NO license required to get it. I estimate the combined A-main start money for drivers who hold the three licenses (a $600 investment) at around $9000. That'll buy some fuel! The win money and start money go up if you run some of the adjacent shows around the one night events too which won't add that much more travel cost and expense BUT...

If your time is limited or you're really far away then just run the big 5 events...

The 2 Texas races, the 2 Deer Creek races and the King of America at Humboldt pay an estimated combined amount of nearly $70,000 to win and about a minimum of $6500 just to start the A-mains with NO license required even over just 5 weekends with one track per weekend. BEST DEAL IN AMERICA for sanctioned Modifieds!

If I just now talked you into it, you got 3 days to get to Houston for the first one, LOL! But you have a little over 3 weeks to pre-enter the King of America at the $250 entry fee rate -- a bargain for sure!!!
