View Full Version : push rod leight on shaft rockers ?

i have a set of alumium shaft rockers for my new engine i need to check push rod leight but alls i have is a the proform plasting rocker arm type push rod checker can i put a stud and guide plate on and check my push rod leight that way ?

It will get you close but it still won't be right.

There should be a tool that came with tyhe rockers to set the stand height. (geometry) After that the pushrod length would be determined by seating the adjuster in the rocker (up into the rocker body)and then turning it out ward aprox. 1 turn. What ever length measured (with an adj. pushrod) to give proper valve lash at this point would be the correct length. You don't want the adjuster out any more then about 1.5turns, (pushrod too short) Pushrod too long and you can't get enough valve lash. But as mentioned stand height and geometry must be set first.
