How do you free up a car in the center? Entry was good and exit was good but could use some more forward bite.

Usually add stagger to free up center

Add stagger,if this makes it loose off add some bite a little at
a time until it tightens up off the corner.

That's how to free up the center.

So what do you want? If your tight in the center and loosen the car,the forward bite will be less. If your entry is good ,how is it getting tight after that ?

The car seems to enter good but in the center it seems I have to turn really far to the left to get the car to turn. When that happens it wants to push out from the center. So I have to slow down and can't get back in the gas as fast on exit.

So your driving it in, getting back on the gas and it pushes?

No when I get to the center of the corner it starts to push before I get back in the gas.

front springs too stiff, increase toe out or caster settings. try more caster split if your running the minimum 1.5 split now. I never go less than 2.5 to give myself some room when banging wheels to still be in the good on split.

I will check the split this weekend. I am running a 900 in the Lt frt and an 850 in the Rt frt. Do you think should go lower?

Depends on what chassis you have, chevelle or metric. At minimum, swap front springs, it will help the car turn off the gas.

that should be fine

The caster is 1.5 degrees on the lt frt and 2.5 degrees on the rt frt. I have 1/4 inch toe out on the lt front. It is a camaro leaf spring chassis and after talking with a couple of the local guys I may have been a little shy on the stagger I had 2.5 and they said they were running between 3" and 4". So am going to add a little stagger and recheck my front end to see if I missed something.

that isnt enough caster split or rf caster.

1.5-3 is the minimum I would never run that low on dirt

2.5 - 5.5-6.5 is what I run

leaf car will push like a dump truck no matter what when leafs lose rate. I had a leaf car for 1.5 years and gave up on it because my lr spring would lose 55-75lbs of rate in a night.

I can only get 1.5-2 for stagger, I cant imagine a track small enough to need much more.

How do u check the rate of a leaf spring? Besides checking arch what else can u do?

Same as a coil spring. Mount it in a rater (I made a big triangle out of 2x3 tubing with a front mount and shackle exactly the same as my car for the other end) and put a bottle jack on a scale and compress it and note the rate every inch of travel.

really?

charcoal is rite swap front springs stiffer rf will help it turn off throttle and by adding stagger you are taking out left rear or cross and making it looser off by adding stagger you are not good in if its pushing off throttle all the way in the middle. swap fnt springs and take out stagger or add some more cross and that will help it turn off the throttle and when you start turning you can get back in the gas and the added cross will help it off and through the middle. i promise you this will help! then you can go and set your front end to your driving style on the caster and camber , never run over 1/8 in toe out caster 2* camber2* lf caster 5* camber3* rf pair of 200lb leafs with 100lbs split or cross on leafs

Could also try cranking a little more rear brake into the car (if possible) to get the back end too swing out a little quicker

Before I changed anything, I would make sure nothing was bottoming out or binding in the right front

Adding a wheel spacer to the rt, rear will loosen in the center of the turn! If you want to tighten it up in the center of the turn, say its real dry slick or something, you run a spacer on the left rear! Don't change the car for such a fast and simple fix! Remember,"keep it simple stupid" (KISS) Its the prefered method of adjustment.

spacing rr out will loosen on entry and tighten on exit, put your spacer in while scaling and see what it changes!
