Lake Cumberland Speedway Practice Days are March 10, March 17; Season Opener Now March 24

Burnside, KY-March 5, 2012- Lake Cumberland Speedway track promoter Brandon Hardgrove and his staff are getting closer to dropping the first green flag on racing in the area in a few weeks, but the crew at LCS will have a pair of an open practice test and tune days for all interested racers and race fans prior to officially getting the racing season underway.

On Saturday March 10, Lake Cumberland Speedway will conduct an official practice day for drivers in all divisions to “shakedown” their racing equipment, getting the “bugs” worked out of new race cars and “dusting the cobwebs” from current racing equipment. The following Saturday, March 17, had been set as the season opener, but will now serve as a practice day to allow racers an extra opportunity to their machines dialed in properly prior to the official start of the 2012 season.

The March 10 open practice test and tune day at Lake Cumberland Speedway will see action on the track from Noon until 6:00 p.m. in the evening, with drivers having the opportunity to make as many laps as possible around the 3/8 mile semi-banked clay oval. There will be free admission in the general admission for the practice on March 10, while it will be $15 to secure a pit pass for the practice day on March 10.

Lake Cumberland Speedway will feature five divisions of weekly racing competition throughout the 2012 racing campaign. Featured divisions at the 3/8 mile semi-banked clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s House of Hardcore Mayhem” will be Super Late Models, Modifieds, Super Dirt Stocks, Sportsman, and Front Wheel Drives.

The 32nd Annual season opener that will kick off the racing action for 2012 at Lake Cumberland Speedway will now take place on Saturday March 24 and will feature Modifieds racing for $600 to win, Super Dirt Stocks racing for $300 to win (8 car minimum), Sportsman racing for $250 to win (8 car minimum), and Front Wheel Drives racing for $100 to win (8 car minimum), with Super Late Models allowed to practice on that date as well. The racing card will be the same on March 31 before the Super Late Models will debut for the 2012 season on Saturday April 7, racing for $1,500 to win.

Lake Cumberland Speedway is located at 1 Racetrack Road, just outside of Burnside, KY, just past the entrance to General Burnside Island State Park. Brandon Hardgrove is the track promoter and presents dirt track racing entertainment on Saturday evenings. The track is located on Racetrack Road off of US Hwy. 127 South, only about five miles south of Somerset, KY.
