View Full Version : 76 cc eq head

A track around here is allowing us to run the EQ 76 cc heads this year as well as the old 441/ 882/993 487 etc. All heads must be stock and unported. Would it be worth it to try the e q heads. I have flowed a stock head and an e q head and the eq head is around 20 cfm better, but it has a bigger port. Any thoughts on what would be better. 3200 lb street stock 3/8 mile rochester 2 barrel and flat top pistons.Thanks in advance.

i would go with the eq head. even if they both flowed the same and made the same power the eq is still better because its not a 40 year old casting, has a thicker deck for more durability, and is already machined for screw in studs, guideplates ect.

Good point, i will never use a old set of heads without screw in studs and guideplates now, i had to learn the $$ way. go EQ

My heads have screw in studs and i know they are good(not cracked etc). Just wondering if its worth it to try the new eq heads being they flow about 20 cfm better. Any thoughts if the bigger port will hurt me on the Eq?
I have run my old 487 heads since 03 with no problems. Just dont want to take a knife to a gun fight so to speak. I will mail ya Stock car racer. Thanks guys.

if you already have a good set of heads i would just run them. there are small power gains with the eq head but not enough to justify spending $800-$1000 or more on a new set of heads complete.
