The Pelican 100! Louisiana's BIGGEST 'RACE'! You know, there's never been a bad Late Model race at Ark-La-Tex Speedway. Series or no series, sanctioned or non-sanctioned....NEVER been a bad Late Model race at Ark-La-Tex! I don't know which 24 are going to start....or which 22, 20 ?...doesn't matter....it's THE PELICAN 100! And you got one chance to see it in 2012.

I once was in Hagerstown, Maryland while on vacation back in the 90s. All the stars were there. $50,000 to win! Bloomquist, Moyer, Moran, Francis, Eckert, all of them. Bill Frye or Bart Hartman won (one won the $10G the night before) and I was thrilled for them but I wouldn't give you a nickel for that race. 50 laps of absolute single file all around the bottom. Yuk! Give me 22 'nobodies' (if folks think they want to be that unkind about it...) ANY DAY at Ark-La-Tex and then to really make it great, let's do 100 laps! NOW WE'RE TALKIN' RACIN'!

The Pelican 100 will grow in tradition. Past Champions like Ray Moore will be celebrated every year at this race. Soon, every Late Model racer is going to want 'The Bird' before he hangs his helmet up! That's what the 2012 Pelican 100 THIS FRIDAY & SATURDAY is all about!!!
