Ponderosa Speedway’s Practice Days March 24, March 30; Season Opener April 6
Junction City, KY- March 11, 2012- Ponderosa Speedway track lease-owner Kevin Colston, track promoter Larry Yantz, and co-promoters Chad and Sarah Yantz are getting closer to beginning the 2012 racing season at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval with an ambitious 2012 schedule that includes 31 events on the 2012 racing docket.
Ponderosa Speedway will feature four divisions of weekly racing competition during the 2012 racing campaign, with those being Late Models, Modifieds, Sportsman, and Street Stocks. Regular show events will see the Late Models race for $1,200 to win and $100 to start, Modifieds for $600 to win and $75 to start, Sportsman for $300 to win and $50 to start, and Street Stocks $200 to win and $40 to start.
There will be a pair of test and tune open practice days that will take place, with the first one a Saturday afternoon session on March 24 from 2:00 p.m. until dark, with the other practice session set for Friday evening March 30 from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. The 40th full season of racing competition at Ponderosa Speedway will officially kick off with the season opener for all four divisions on Friday April 6.
The official green flag will drop on the 2012 race season at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday April 6 with a full program of racing action that will feature Late Models, Modifieds, Sportsman, and Street Stocks all in competition. Also, track officials will allow racers in the Modified and Sportsman divisions to use the Hoosier RC4 compound tire. RACEceivers are mandatory in all divisions and must be in use at all times.
