Ponderosa Speedway First 2012 Practice Takes Place This Saturday March 24

Junction City, KY- March 18, 2012- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Larry Yantz and co-promoters Chad and Sarah Yantz are getting closer to beginning the 2012 racing season at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval as the promotional trio are set to present the first laps on the track of the season with the first of two official test and tune practice days.

The first test and tune practice day will be on Saturday afternoon March 24. Drivers will be able to make laps beginning at 2 p.m. that afternoon and practice will conclude around dark. Drivers in all four divisions (Late Models, Modifieds, Sportsman, and Street Stocks) are invited to “work out the kinks” in new or old rides in preparation of the upcoming 2012 racing season at Ponderosa Speedway.

Also, the staff of Ponderosa Speedway would like to invite everyone out on Saturday afternoon to get a peak at some of the new improvements at the track, with things such as a new scale area and blacktop driveways for the drivers to use in the infield area among things already in place. Also, any spectator that visits Ponderosa Speedway on Saturday afternoon will receive a free sandwich and drink as a welcome back to the track.

Activities for the March 24 test and tune practice day will see the pit area and general admission area open at Noon. All spectators are invited to the practice day, as there will be free admission in the general admission area. There will be a charge of $15 to enter the pit area.

Ponderosa Speedway will feature four divisions of weekly racing competition during the 2012 racing campaign, with those being Late Models, Modifieds, Sportsman, and Street Stocks. Regular show events will see the Late Models race for $1,200 to win and $100 to start, Modifieds for $600 to win and $75 to start, Sportsman for $300 to win and $50 to start, and Street Stocks $200 to win and $40 to start.

The official green flag will drop on the 2012 race season at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday April 6 with a full program of racing action that will feature Late Models, Modifieds, Sportsman, and Street Stocks all in competition. RACEceivers are mandatory in all divisions and must be in use at all times.

Ponderosa Speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane on the Boyle/Lincoln County border, outside of Junction City, KY, just minutes from Danville, KY. Larry Yantz is the track promoter and will present dirt track sports entertainment on Friday and selected Saturday evenings from April through October of the 2012 race season. Practice at Ponderosa Speedway is still on for today. Gates open at 12pm - Practice starts at 2pm. Come out and join us we kick off the racing season at Kentucky's Baddest Bullring! Don't forget general admission is free, with pit passes being $15.00, and anyone who shows up gets a free sandwich & drink.
