CARTERSVILLE, GA – NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series officials have been notified by track officials that New Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA will not be a part of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series for the 2012 season. New Senoia Raceway officials said they have decided to just run steel-headed dirt late models as a part of their weekly racing program.

In 2011, four drivers from New Senoia Raceway placed in the Top 10 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region point standings. Tod Darda of LaGrange, GA finished second, with Doug Ludwig of Grantville, GA taking the fifth spot, Russ Ogletree of Phenix City, AL finishing seventh, and Trey White Jenkinsburg, GA was eighth in the East Region standings.

Drivers that were planning on competing in the Crate Late Model Division at New Senoia Raceway still have several options to compete for the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series $20,000 National Point Fund that will pay $10,000 to the Champion and pay back ten spots. There are three tracks in Alabama and two tracks in Georgia sanctioned by the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS.

Penton Raceway in Penton, AL will have Friday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition in 2012, while East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, 441 Speedway in Dublin, GA and Albany Motor Speedway in Albany, GA will host Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition in 2012.

The 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series will run from March 26 through September 30. A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals will count towards their season point total. A driver can also earn up to 100 Bonus Points that will be added to their 14-week total with 25 bonus points for each four weeks of perfect attendance at a single track, and 25 bonus points for each NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division event they participate in during the WRS season.
