Ray Cook Posts Top Five Effort at Bulls Gap; Preps for Indiana Icebreaker

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Ray Cook and the #53 team invaded the ultra-fast Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee on Saturday night, March 17 for the 11th Annual 'Spring Thaw.' The unsanctioned, one-day program at "The Gap" paid $10,000 to the winner. Ray laid down the fourth fastest lap during qualifying, which earned him the outside second row starting spot for the 60-lap main event. In front of the huge throng of fans in the 'Spring Thaw,' Ray raced inside of the top five throughout the distance prior to landing a fifth place performance behind only winner Dale McDowell, Vic Hill, Scott Bloomquist, and Jimmy Owens. Full results from Bulls Gap can be viewed online at www.volunteerspeedway.com.

“We were off just a little bit, but we still came out of there with a solid top five finish,” stated Cook this week via telephone. “It seemed like each time we took to the track, we were on the wrong tire combination. I would have liked to have been a little better, but to be on the wrong tires with that strong of competition, a fifth place outing is not too bad. We’ll just try to make better decisions on the car this weekend at Brownstown!”

The D&R Motorsports team will return to dirt-slinging competition this upcoming Saturday evening, March 24 at the legendary Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will once again preside over the one-day ‘Indiana Icebreaker’ at the 1/4-mile, semi-banked fairgrounds venue. A strong field of competitors is expected to converge on Brownstown this weekend with all eyes fixated on the $10,000 payday. Ray ran a solid eleventh in last year’s version of the ‘Indiana Icebreaker’ and comes into the weekend tied for fourteenth in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
