Tonight’s season opener at the Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, North Carolina has been postponed due to the high probability of rain throughout the day. With rain showers predicted all day Friday, promoter Ray Cook had no choice but to make an early call to postpone the 2012 lid lifter.

“We were looking forward to starting off the year tonight at Tri-County, but it doesn’t look like Mother Nature is willing to cooperate,” quoted Cook this morning. “I don’t want to go ahead with the program and then it rain out later tonight and everyone wastes a bunch of money coming over here. We will just start the season next Thursday with our first Competition Thursday, featuring practice for all divisions and King of the County match races.”

Competition Thursday will be held at Tri-County this Thursday night, March 29. An open practice session will be held from approximately 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., while racing will start after that. Also, there will be an opportunity for spectator races or spectator qualifying, if anyone out there wants to know how fast their street car will roll around Tri-County. All spectators must have a helmet to participate. The first full program of the year will now be Friday, April 6, featuring Super Late Models for $2,000 to win!
