Lake Cumberland Speedway Tries Season Opener Again This Saturday March 31

Burnside, KY-March 25, 2012- After being rained out last Saturday evening, Lake Cumberland Speedway track promoter Brandon Hardgrove and his staff will have “Kentucky’s House of Hardcore Mayhem” cranked up for what will now be the 2012 season opening event this Saturday March 31 at the at the 3/8 mile semi-banked clay oval.

Of note, all race fans and race teams (drivers, crew members, car owners, etc.) that have tickets or pit passes from the March 24 rainout can use them this Saturday March 31 or at any other event over the course of the 2012 racing season. However, everyone must have their ticket or pit pass with them to exchange.

The March 31 event will see the Modified division take top billing racing for $600 to win in a 20 lap feature event. Joining the Modified divisions on the Saturday March 31 racing program will be Super Dirt Stocks racing for $300 to win (8 car minimum) in a 15 lap main event, Sportsman racing for $250 (8 car minimum) in a 12 lap feature event, and Front Wheel Drives racing for $100 (8 car minimum) in a 10 lap main event. The Super Late Model division will not be in action on March 31, however, any Super Late Model racers that want to get some practice laps with their cars will be able to do so. The Modified, Super Dirt Stock, and Sportsman divisions will time trial, while the Front Wheel Drives will pill draw for heat race starting positions. All divisions will also have qualifying heats to set their respective divisions feature event line-up.

Activities for the Saturday March 31 event will see the pit area and general admission area open at 4:00 p.m. There will be a mandatory drivers meeting at 6:00 p.m., with practice set to begin immediately after the drivers meeting, followed by time trials and green flag racing. For the March 31 event, general admission ticket prices will be $12 for adults, children ages 6 to 10 will be $5, while children ages 5 and under will be admitted free with a paid adult. A pit pass will cost $30.

Lake Cumberland Speedway will feature five divisions of weekly racing competition throughout the 2012 racing campaign. Featured divisions at the 3/8 mile semi-banked clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s House of Hardcore Mayhem” will be Super Late Models, Modifieds, Super Dirt Stocks, Sportsman, and Front Wheel Drives.

Lake Cumberland Speedway is located at 1 Racetrack Road, just outside of Burnside, KY, just past the entrance to General Burnside Island State Park. Brandon Hardgrove is the track promoter and presents dirt track racing entertainment on Saturday evenings. The track is located on Racetrack Road off of US Hwy. 127 South, only about five miles south of Somerset, KY.
