Billy Moyer Looks Ahead to Muskogee Following Illini 100 Disappointment

(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) Billy Moyer and his famed #21 team invaded the Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois on March 30-31 for the annual running of the 'Illini 100.' The World of Outlaws Late Model Series once again presided over the two-day extravaganza and 53 competitors converged on the 1/4-mile oval to vie for the $20,000 payday. On Friday night, Billy laid down the fastest lap during the qualifying session to earn Fast Time honors and later won his loaded heat race.

After drawing the fifth starting spot for the 100-lapper on Saturday evening, Billy hung around the top five before making a late race charge. The Batesville, Arkansas Hall of Famer had just grabbed the fourth position away from Vic Coffey on lap 79 when Coffey made contact with Moyer heading into turn one on the eightieth circuit. Billy spun due to the incident, stopped on the track, and was sent to the tail by series officials. "Mr. Smooth" opted to instead head pitside and retired from the 'Illini 100' with a disappointing twentieth place finish. Full results from Farmer City can be viewed online at www.worldofoutlaws.com.

The Billy Moyer Racing (BMR) team will look to put the ‘Illini 100’ disappointment behind them, as they head to the Thunderbird Speedway in Muskogee, Oklahoma on Friday night, April 6. The MARS DIRTcar Series will sanction the inaugural ‘Charlie Fulton Memorial’ at the famed 1/2-mile tomorrow night. A $5,555.55 top prize is on the line, while there is also a $555 to win “Dash for Cash” and additional lap money up for grabs. Billy then plans to take Saturday evening, April 7 off from Dirt Late Model competition. Additional information on the ‘Charlie Fulton Memorial’ can be accessed online at www.marsracingseries.com.
