View Full Version : NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Round Up For April 9

CARTERSVILLE, GA – After Week 2 of the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season, there is still a three-way tie for the point lead, as the top three drivers have a win and a second-place finish to tally 99 points after the first two weeks of the season. Just five points separate the Top 10 in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS started off the weekend with a victory on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS driving the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star. That followed up a second-place finish in Week 1 competition for “The General” to bring his point total to 99.

Jeremy Shaw of Millport, AL grabbed a second-place finish on Saturday night at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS to go with a Week 1 win and bring his point total to 99 in the Summit Resource Development Trak-Star.

The 2011 and two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS also has a total of 99 points to share the top of the points list. McDuffie finished second on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS where he had a Week 1 victory driving the McDuffie Racing Trak-Star.

Justin McRee of Cottonwood, AL took the win on Saturday night over a 23-car field at Whynot Motorsports Park driving the High Roller Race Cars Special. That moved “J-Mac” up to the fourth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings with 98 points after a third-place finish in Week 1 competition.

Scott Ladner of Lumberton, MS has a pair of Top 5 finishes to settle into the fifth spot with 96 points, while Ryan King of Seymour, TN and Shay Knight of Columbus, MS share the sixth spot with 95 points apiece. King in the Brian King Roofing Stinger and Knight in the LaQuinta Inns Special both have a pair of Top 5 finishes.

Blake Koenigsberger of Columbus, MS drove the W.D. Pate Enterprises Special to victory on Saturday night at Columbus Speedway to move into a three-way tie for the eighth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings with Cory Hedge(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) of Loudon, TN in the Eagle Racing Engines Rocket and Hunter Carroll of Columbus, MS in the Magic Muffler Special at 94 points apiece.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 2 action, Anthony White of Clinton, TN in the J.T. Racing Equipment Stinger was awarded the win on Saturday night at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN after the Smoky Mountain Brewery Special of apparent winner David Crabtree of Maryville, TN failed the post-race technical inspection with unapproved valve springs.

Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL took the win on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL driving the Gauldin Racing GRT, and Joey Thomas of Seale, AL was the winner on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL driving the BTR-Scorpion Race Cars Special.

Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA took his second straight win on Saturday night at Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS in the Trosclair Racing Special. The victory was a 40-point win for Trosclair, as the car count was less than eight. Chris O’Connor of Cantonment, FL also posted a 40-point win driving the O’Connor Racing Special on Saturday night at Deep South Speedway in Loxley, AL.
