CARTERSVILLE, GA – The 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season shifts into high gear for Week 3 competition with 14 races at 13 different tracks in five different states making up the schedule of events. Six tracks will open their seasons of NeSmith Chevrolet WRS competition, and there are also two $1,000-to-win races highlighting Week 3 action.

Week 3 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series action begins on Friday night with four races. Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS and Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS will host races, while Malden Speedway in Malden, MO and Penton Raceway in Penton, AL will hold their first WRS events this Saturday night.

There will be two $1,000-to-win NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series events on Saturday night at Albany Motor Speedway in Albany, GA and Magnolia Motor Speedway. The Albany Motor Speedway race will be a tune-up for a pair of NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division races on April 27 and April 28.

Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, 441 Speedway in Dublin, GA, Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN and West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO will open their 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series seasons on Saturday night.

Deep South Speedway in Loxley, AL, East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL, Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL will also be in action on Saturday night for NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition.

There is a three-way tie for the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point lead after the first two weeks of competition and just five points separate the Top 10 in the WRS points chase. Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS, the 2011 and two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS and Jeremy Shaw of Millport, AL are at the top of the points list. Justin McRee of Cottonwood, AL is fourth, one point out of first-place.

Drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series compete against each other using a points system that counts their best 14 week point totals. They are competing for a $20,000 point fund that pays back ten spots at the end of the season. The 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Champion will earn a $10,000 top prize.

The dirt late model race cars in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series are powered by the economical Chevrolet Performance Crate Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications. There are two engines to choose from, the 400 horsepower aluminum-head 604 engine and the 350 horsepower steel-head 602 engine that gets a 150-pound weight break.
