Southern All Star Points Championship Really Gets Started This Week
CLINTON, TN—The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series battle for the 2012 point’s title really starts this weekend as many of the drivers that were in attendance at the Shamrock last week in Cleveland will not be chasing the series title for 2012, but there should be a few names that will be at the Racing with the Stars 50 at Smoky Mountain Speedway Saturday night present by classic rock WIMZ 103.5 that pays $5,000 to win.
Defending series champions Billy Ogle Jr of Knoxville, TN., will be back to take a shot at his second title this year as well as his teammate Tommy Kerr of Rockford, TN., will also be in action. Other drivers that are expected to compete for the title also include former Southern All Star Champion Randy Weaver of Crossville, TN., and his teammate Shan Smith of Dade City, FL., and also making plans on his first run for the series title is Vic Hill of Mosheim, TN., who also should be a strong contender throughout the year as well as returning series regulars Chad Ogle of Knoxville, TN., Brian Reese of Sharpsburg, GA., and David Payne of Murphy, NC.
Other drivers that are expected to be in action Saturday night at Smoky Mountain Speedway include Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN., Ross White of Karns, TN., Skip Arp of Georgetown, TN., Mark Vineyard of Knoxville, TN., Steve Smith of Powell, TN., Mike Weeks of Friendsville, TN., and Mark Douglas of Knoxville, TN., plus more.
Action will get underway at 3 pm with pts opening, grandstand and tier parking open at 5 pm, drivers meeting at 6:30 pm and hot laps start at 7 pm. Admission is pit pass $35, tier parking $20 and grandstands $15.
