Brad Neat Nails Chris Estes/Brad Pena Memorial Victory at Ponderosa Speedway

Junction City, KY-April 14, 2012- Ponderosa Speedway would be in action for the second straight evening and the event would be the 5th Annual Chris Estes/Brad Pena Memorial and Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY would become the fifth different winner of the race and earned himself a $2,500 payday in the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Model main event. Other feature event winners included J.T. Ayers of New Haven, KY in Clayton Homes Modifieds and Donnie Sullivan of Stanford, KY in the Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman.

After a turn three multi-car pile-up on the initial start, the field would go green in the Chris Estes/Brad Pena Memorial event and Dustin Linville would drive to the race lead, with Greg Johnson and Brad Neat giving chase. The front trio would enter slower traffic on lap 8 and would be in heavy traffic on lap 15 before a caution one trip later slowed the pace. Back underway, Linville would continue to hold the race lead, while Neat would get around Johnson for second and set his sights on the leader. Linville and Neat would begin to spar for the lead on lap 22 and would go side-by-side for the top spot on lap 26, before Neat would take the lead one lap later. A trio of cautions would slow the action in the final 12 laps, with the last one on lap 38, setting up a sprint to the finish. Neat would hold on and claim the win aboard his Red Buck/Neat’s Service Center/Begley’s General Store sponsored #41 Bandit Race Car, Cornett Race Engines powered mount. Linville would take second, while Dustin Neat would charge back through the field after being involved in a tangle with a lapped car on lap 16 to take third. Greg Johnson and Michael Chilton would complete the top five. The remainder of the top ten would be 14th starter Jeremy Hines, Victor Lee, 17th starter Chad Stapleton, Stephen Breeding, and Joey Daniel. Brad Neat would be the Mulligan Plumbing top qualifier at 13.858 seconds, while Country 100.9 MIKE FM heat race wins went to D.J. Wells, Linville, and Greg Johnson.

The 20 lap Clayton Homes Modified main event would see J.T. Ayers grab the lead at the start of the event and never be headed throughout the open-wheel main event on his way to taking the checkered flag first in the Don and Ginger Ayers owned After Hours Body Shop/Quick Time Turbo/Buzick Construction/Hagan Construction sponsored #28 Bandit Race Car powered by a Dale Meers Race Engine. Bryan Barber would take runner-up honors, while Benji Lee would claim a third place finish. The remainder of the top five would be Don Adams and Elliott Despain. Completing the top ten would be Jacoby Hines, Keith Smith, Michael England, Jeff Rawlings, and Rocky Wilson. Twenty entries would see Ayers also be the top qualifier at 15.028 seconds, while Smith Automotive Machine Shop heat race victories fell to Ayers, Adams, and Barber.

Donnie Sullivan would make it two straight victories in the Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman division by leading all 15 laps of the feature event in the seat of his D&D Pallet Recyclers/ Simple Sign and Decal/Crown Cuts of Stanford sponsored #1 Chevy Camaro. John Cole would take second, with Doodle Farris claiming third. Derek Bottoms and Eli Meredith would round out the top five. Ten entries would see Jeremy Howard be the top qualifier at 16.539 seconds, while Sullivan would win the Central Painting heat race event.
