CARTERSVILLE, GA – Mark Tice of Avon, MS won the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Model feature race Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS. The key to Tice’s win was that he spent less money to go faster, as his Precision Marine Trak-Star was equipped with the new $135 Bilstein Spec Shocks for the first time.

Tice qualified third fastest among the 17 entrants, and when the pole car didn’t answer the bell for the feature, Tice ended up starting the race on the inside of the front row. Tice took the lead at the start of the race and by the halfway point he had pulled out to a full straightaway lead. There were two late race caution flags, but Tice pulled away on each restart to win by four car-lengths.

“I have struggled with this car for two years using canister shocks that cost about $600 apiece,” Tice said. “I took off about $2,800 worth of canister shocks, put on $675 worth of Bilstein Spec Shocks, and it was like I had a brand new race car. We ran the same springs except for the right-front, which we changed before the feature race.”

Tice said after bolting on the Bilstein Spec Shocks, the difference in the race car’s handling was very noticeable, and it took a little getting used to. But Tice said the change made the car handle better, get off the corners better, and overall made it a faster race car.

“I noticed the difference in the car the first time we went into corner, as the car really felt like it was under me and more stable,” Tice said. “The Bilstein Spec Shocks also gave the car more bite. Spending less to go faster is definitely the way to go!”

The $135 Bilstein Spec Shock is an economical alternative for racers that are sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications. Each shock is also serial numbered for accountability, and there are ten different Bilstein Spec Shocks to choose from. The shocks are designed for all four corners and the fifth coil of the race car’s suspension.

Tice also competes on the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division where he finished sixth in the 2011 point standings, and is a Top 10 contender in 2012. Tice will be one of five drivers on the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS Tour that will participate in the Bilstein Spec Shocks “Series Within A Series” competing for an additional point fund.

Joining Tice in the Bilstein Spec Shocks “Series Within A Series” are two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Champion David Earl Gentry of Murfreesboro, TN, Matthew Turner of Dawsonville, GA, Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS and Anthony White of Clinton, TN.
