View Full Version : NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Round Up For April 23

CARTERSVILLE, GA – There is a new point leader on top of the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings after Week 4 competition that saw nine different winners in ten races. Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA leads the standings with 205 points after his fourth straight win at Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS driving the J. Dunning Sandblasting & Paint Special.

Even though it was a 40-point win, Trosclair used 25 bonus points on Saturday night for his fourth consecutive race with perfect attendance at Pike County Speedway to put him in the lead of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 205 points.

Jeremy Shaw of Millport, AL traveled to Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL on Saturday night and took his second win of the season driving the Summit Resource Development Trak-Star. Shaw has sole possession of the second spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 198 points, just seven point behind Trosclair.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS and the 2011 and two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS both had wins in Week 4 competition and are tied for the third spot in the standings with 197 points.

Lee grabbed his second win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star, and McDuffie took his second win of the season on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park driving the McDuffie Racing Trak-Star. Justin McRee of Cottondale, AL holds down the fifth spot with 192 points in the High Roller Race Cars Special.

Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS in the Billy Riels Racing GRT and Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS in the Custom Spraying, Inc. GRT are tied for the sixth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 187 points.

Tony Lawson of Laurel, MS in the Lawson Construction Special and Scott Ladner of Lumberton, MS in the Billy Riels Racing GRT are tied for the eighth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 186 points. Billy Riels Racing has three team cars in the Top 10 of the point standings.

Ryan King of Seymour, TN rounds out the Top 10 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 183 points driving the Brian King Roofing Stinger. Just 22 points separate the Top 10, and only 15 points separate second through tenth spots. First through 20th spot are separated by 35 points.

The 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region champion and 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series VP Racing Fuels Rookie of the Year Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL had a busy and successful week.

Edge started his racing week off on Wednesday at Talladega Super Speedway where he took his first drive on an asphalt race track during a test session in an ARCA super speedway car. Edge reached speeds over 180 miles per hour during the session. It was back to his dirt late model race car for Edge on Friday and Saturday, as he notched up two wins.

On Friday night, Edge drove the Edge’s Gas Company Special to his second straight win at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL, and then followed that up with a victory on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 4 action, Mark Vineyard of Powell, TN topped a 20-car field on Saturday night at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN driving the Smithbuilt Homes Special, and Neil Lee of Flowood, MS took the win on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS driving the JWH Equipment GRT.

The 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Runner-Up Duke Palasini of Leland, MS picked up his first win of the season on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS at the wheel of the Palasini Farms Special. Roger Witt of Batesville, AR drove the Mike Atchison Body Shop Special to victory on Saturday night at West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 4 rainouts were on Friday night at Malden Speedway in Malden, MO, as well as Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS and 441 Speedway in Dublin, GA on Saturday night.
