Talladega Short Track awaits 30th Anniversary visit of famed Southern All Stars on May 5th

CLINTON, TN (April 26, 2012)—The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series, after a couple of weekends off, will head to Alabama and a trip to the Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga for the first of four season visits. This will also be the first of four races in a busy month of May.

The SAS Late Models will run at ‘The Hornet’s Nest’ on Saturday Night May 5th for a $3,500 to win / $300 to start event which will include a complete show of Practice, Time Trials, 12-lap Last Chance Races and the 50-lap main. All supporting divisions will also be on the racing card that night including Crate Late Models, Thundercars, Hot Shots, Sportsman and Street Stocks.

On Friday May 4th, the track will host an unsanctioned 40-lap $2,000 to win Super Late Model event. These events at the 1/3 mile oval are in conjunction with NASCAR racing just a short distance away at Talladega Super Speedway. Adam Martin and Tim Busha are just a few of the event winners who have graced victory lane already this season in the Kilpatrick Chevrolet sponsored Super Late Model division at TST.

On Saturday May 5th, the gates will swing open at 9:00 a.m. with Grandstand gates opening at 3:00 p.m. and Drivers Meeting at 5:45 p.m. then Hot Laps are slated for 6:00 p.m. all times CDT. Adult General Admission is $20 while Pit Passes are $30. The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series entry fee is $100.

After two races, Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, TN leads the SAS Points with just four markers over Mosheim, TN driver Vic Hill, who won the last series event, the second of his career at the Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN back on April 14th. Randy Weaver sits in the third spot along with Mike Marlar and Chad Ogle rounding out the top five in series points.
