Had to go to a 5" water pump pulley when the ATI damper fouled the Essy aluminum pulley. so far this season the motor is a bit hotter during the race, up to 200-210 without the fan (normally 180-190) and the weather hasn't gotten hot yet. was thinking about adding the 5/8 restrictor to the outlet to slow down the flow but want to know from those who have tried it if it works or not. Have a good aluminum radiator and good plenum between nose and radiator.

The restrictor raises the pressure inside the block and head,a good thing to prevent steam bubbles. I think that is why a restrictor or a thermostat is important, not because it slows the coolant down. Also don't go much smaller than 5/8 because the pump needs a certain amount of flow.

I've had good luck at over 100 degree track temps running a 3/4" restrictor with the electric fan BEHIND the radiator, small essy crank pulley, stock pump pulley, 2300 ford roller head pro 4
