American Modified Series Readies for Competitive 2012 Campaign

Glasgow, KY-May 6, 2012- The American Modified Series is pleased to announce its schedule of events and preview of the upcoming 2012 racing season as the tour enters its third season of sanctioning Open Wheel Modified dirt racing action. The AMS tour will operate once again under the rules and regulations of the UMP DirtCar Modified guidelines, allowing racers to not only earn points toward the American Modified Series championship, but also earn points toward the UMP DirtCar Modified national championship.

The open-wheel warriors of the American Modified Series will kick off the 2012 racing season on Saturday June 2 at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN paying $1,500 to win. The following evening on Sunday June 3, the tour will make its first-ever visit to Windy Hollow Speedway in Owensboro, KY, also racing for $1,500 to win in this event. The next weekend will see the tour venture into the state of Tennessee with a first time visit to Wartburg Speedway in Wartburg, TN on Saturday June 9 for another $1,500 to win event.

A pair of Saturday events complete the month of June as the tour will again return to Florence Speedway in Union, KY on Saturday June 23 for a $1,500 to win event, while the month of June will conclude on Saturday June 30 with another visit to the ultra-high banks of the Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN, with that event paying $3,000 to win.

With some to be announced dates filling the schedule in July, the AMS travelers will return to Tazewell Speedway for a special Friday night event on August 24 as part of the Bristol NASCAR weekend experience, with the main event that evening paying $3,000 to win. The tour is set to conclude its 2012 campaign with a new event for the tour as the American Modified Series Season Championship event will take place at the Florence Speedway in Union, KY, paying $5,000 to the winner of that race, with a raindate for the event already booked if necessary for October 27.

The points fund will again be based on the top ten in final series points. The membership to join the series for the season is $100 and competitors must be a series member to be eligible for points fund money and contingencies. The series champion will be earn at least $2,000 in money and contingency awards.

The tour will also have a new race director in 2012 as Kenny Kenneda will serve in this role for the American Modified Series. Kenneda has an extensive background in the dirt track racing, having fielded and driven cars in years past, while most recently serving as a technical inspector for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series

The American Modified Series will present UMP Modified sanctioned dirt track sports entertainment at racing venues throughout Kentucky, Indiana, and Tennessee.
