Ponderosa Speedway Ready to Roll with Racing Competition on Friday May 11

Junction City, KY- May 6, 2012- After last week’s rainout, Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Larry Yantz and co-promoters Chad and Sarah Yantz are set to present another action packed evening of clay slinging, wide open dirt track racing entertainment at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” this Friday evening May 11 with a full program of exciting, side-by-side racing competition featuring many of the best racers in the area.

The May 11 racing program will feature Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models racing for $1,200 to win, Clayton Homes Modifieds racing for $600 to win, Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman racing for $300 to win, and Bob Allen Motor Mall Street Stocks racing for $200 to win, all in action in a full program of weekly racing series competition. The Late Model, Modified, and Sportsman divisions will time trial, while the Street Stock division will pill draw for heat race starting spots. All drivers will need to visit the registration/payout window to draw for time trial order or heat race starting spots. Also, all divisions will participate in qualifying heat race events that will determine the feature event starting line-ups. RACEceivers are mandatory in all divisions. The highest finishing driver in the Late Model division utilizing a Crate engine powered car will receive a $100 bonus, while the second highest finishing driver sporting a Crate engine powered mount will receive a $50 bonus.

Also of note, those in attendance when the rains came prior to the drivers meeting on May 4 can use their general admission tickets and pit passes at this event on Friday May 11. However, you must have your tickets or pit passes to trade in for new ones for this event. These will honored at any race over the course of the 2012 race season.

Activities for the Friday May 11 racing event will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m, while the general admission area opens at 5:00 p.m., with the drivers meeting set for 7:00 p.m. Practice laps will begin at 7:15 p.m., followed by time trials at 7:45 p.m., with racing set for the green flag at 8:30 p.m. Ticket prices for the May 4 racing event in the general admission area will be $12 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 12, and children ages 5 and under admitted free with a paid adult. A pit pass will be $30.

Ponderosa Speedway last raced on Friday April 20 and feature event winners included Dustin Neat of Dunnville, KY in Indiana Late Model Series action, J.T. Ayers of New Haven, KY in Clayton Homes Modifieds, and Donnie Sullivan of Stanford, KY in Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman.

Current track championship points leaders heading into the May 11 event include Dustin Neat of Dunnville, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models, J.T. Ayers of New Haven, KY in Clayton Homes Modifieds, and Donnie Sullivan of Stanford, KY in Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman.

Ponderosa Speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane on the Boyle/Lincoln County border, outside of Junction City, KY, just minutes from Danville, KY.
