CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 6 of the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season saw eight drivers add to their respective win totals in nine races, while Tony Lawson of Laurel, MS used both Weekly Racing Series competition and Bonus Points at a NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division event to increase his point lead.

Lawson picked up 44 points with a seventh-place finish on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS, and then traveled to the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring event on Saturday night at Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN to grab another 25 Bonus Points.

Lawson earned 69 points for Week 6 and now has a total of 352 points to lead the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings in the Lawson Construction Special. Lawson holds a 30-point lead over Jeremy Shaw of Millport, AL, who had a second-place finish on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS driving the Summit Resource Development Trak-Star and now has 322 points.

The 2011 and two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS is in the third spot with 317 points, after taking the fourth spot on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park driving the McDuffie Racing Trak-Star.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is fourth with 313 points after finishing second at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star. Lee’s teammate, Scott Ladner of Lumberton, MS is fifth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 302 points after driving the Billy Riels Racing GRT to a fifth-place finish at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park.

Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 301 points in the Custom Spraying GRT, and Ryan King of Seymour, TN is seventh with 297 points driving the Brian King Roofing Stinger.

Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA drove the J. Dunning Sandblasting and Painting Special to two wins in Week 6 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition. Trosclair grabbed his sixth win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park, where he also set a new track record, and then drove to win number seven on Saturday night at Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS.

Trosclair moved up to the eighth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 295 points. Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS in the Henderson Waste and Recycling Trak-Star and Daniel Bridgeman of Meridian, MS in the Robinson Electric Rocket are tied for the ninth spot with 294 points apiece.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 6 action, Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL took his second win of the season on Friday night, as he topped a 33-car field at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL driving the Adam Gauldin Racing GRT. Chris Noah of Rainbow City, AL took the Saturday night win at Talladega Short Track in the Stephen’s Express Mart Special for his third victory of the season.

Joey Thomas of Seale, AL drove the BTR/Scorpion Race Cars Special to his third win of the season on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL. Justin McRee of Cottondale, AL picked up his second win of the season on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park driving the High Roller Race Cars Special.

Mark Tice drove the Precision Marine Trak-Star equipped with $135 Bilstein Spec Shocks to his second win of the season on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS. Roger Witt of Batesville, AR took his second win of the season on Saturday night at West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO driving The Chrome Shop Special. Eric Baggett of Dublin, GA took his second straight win on Saturday night at 441 Speedway driving the Baggett Racing Special.

Two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL got its 11th win of the season with Tice’s victory in Week 6 competition to keep their streak alive by having one of their chassis pick up a win in each week run so far this season.

Trak-Star Race Cars leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge point standings with 11 wins, and defending and four-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR is second after Gauldin gave them their fourth win of the season.

Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is third with 2 wins, and Stinger Race Cars built by J.T. Kerr Racing Equipment in Rockford, TN is fourth with 1 win. Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV and TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN are still looking for their first win of the season.
