SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The "Quick-Quarter" of the Springfield Raceway is getting ready for another of their signature special events as the 6th Annual John Kuntz Memorial presented by Andy's Frozen Custard will be held on Sat. May 12th featuring the MARS DIRTcar Series.

John Kuntz the founder of Andy's Frozen Custard was a long-time race fan and strong supporter of Springfield area activities. Kuntz who opened the first Andy's in Osage Beach, Mo in 1986 was a true salesman as his strong personal skills drew people to him and his friendly manners had people wanting to do business with him. John and wife Carol then embarked to Springfield, Mo and opened their first Andy's(named after their son) and it took off like a storm. Springfield was where they called home and a tradition was born and Andy has carried that tradition to new highs with several new stores and franchises in Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas.
The Martians will hit the track after a month-long series of rain-outs during the month of April. The 6th Annual John Kuntz Memorial will kick off the month of May for both MARS and MLRA series that will be battling for the $3000 top prize and the bragging rights to honor such a GREAT man in John Kuntz!!! Jesse Stovall of Galena, MO will lead the Martians into Springfield as he sits atop of the season's long points battle... Lebanon, MO 'Hot Shoe' Tony Jackson Jr sits 2nd in the points, who is on the verge of stellar breakout season with picking up his first series win in the Season Opener at Clarksville Speedway- Clarksville, TN... Newcomer to the Series family is Adrian MO driver David Turner who sits in 3rd is making a strong run at putting his name on the list of Champions in the MARS DIRTcar Series history... 4th is Defending MARS DIRTcar Series Champ Brad Looney from Republic, MO who won the the first of three visits at the Springfield Raceway and will once again be a handful at the "Quick Quarter"... A pair of Rookie Of The Year contenders sit in 5th and 6th with Broken Arrow, OK driver Brandon Morton in his first full season behind a Super Late Model is making a name for himself and holding his own.. Justin Asplin is making a full go on the series for the first time and will have the ROY title in his sight.. Leroy Johnson of Battlefield, MO; Dewaine Keifer of Genevieve, MO; RC Whitwell of Tucson, AZ; Will Vaught of Crane, MO round up the top 10... 6 Time Series Champion and winner of the Annual John Kuntz Memorial Terry Phillips of Springfield, MO will look to put his new Bloomquist Chassis in winner's circle for the first time this season in his hometown and on his sponsors Memorial race.. Several other great and the best regional drivers will be on hand for this highly anticipated event..... Grandstand gates will open at 5PM with hot laps starting at 6PM. Grandstand Admission will be $20 for Adults while Kids 6-12 are $5 and kids under 6 are Free. Racing will begin at 7PM.
