Ponderosa Speedway Announces Adjustment on Late Model Division Tire Rules

Junction City, KY-May 13, 2012- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Larry Yantz would like to announce an adjustment in the tire rules for the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Model division that competes at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval.

Beginning this Friday evening May 18, the tire rules for the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Model will be as follows: For those racers with cars utilizing an open engine, competitors will be allowed use the Hoosier 1600, 55, or LM40 or American Racer 56 only and must be used on the front and rear of the race cars. These tires must durometer a minimum of 60 with no exceptions. The tire rule for those drivers that have cars utilizing the GM602 or GM604 Crate engines will remain the same as it has been since the start of the season.

The next racing action at Ponderosa Speedway will be Friday/Saturday doubleheader of competition on May 18 and May 19. On Friday May 18, the 4th Annual May Mayhem event will take place, paying $1,000 to win for Clayton Homes Modifieds, along with a full program of racing for the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models, Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman, Bob Allen Motor Mall Street Stocks, and Front Wheel Drives.

On Saturday May 19, the 13th Annual Hugh “Junebug” Rowland Memorial takes place, paying $1,500 to win for Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models and $500 to win for the Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman, along with a full program of racing for the Clayton Homes Modifieds, Bob Allen Motor Mall Street Stocks, and Front Wheel Drives.

Ponderosa Speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane on the Boyle/Lincoln County border, outside of Junction City, KY, just minutes from Danville, KY. Larry Yantz is the track promoter and will present dirt track sports entertainment on Friday and selected Saturday evenings from April through October of the 2012 race season.
