CARTERSVILLE, GA – Despite a wet Saturday that rained out six races, there was still plenty of action during Week 7 of the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season. In the nine races that were run, there were six first-time winners this season and a major shuffle in the Top 10 of the point standings.

Jeff Glisson of Boaz, KY drove the SGR Equipment Rocket to his first win of the season on Friday night at Malden Speedway in Malden, MO. Chad Wallace of LaGrange, GA was a first-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series winner this season on Friday night at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL driving the Wallace Construction GRT.

Justin McRee of Cottondale, AL became the third driver in as many weeks to break the track record on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS and then went on to win the main event in the High Roller Race Cars Special for his third win of the season. That vaulted “J-Mac” from 18th to a tie for the ninth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings.

Kyle Berry of Portageville, MO opened the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season at Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN by driving the Berry Roofing Special to the win on Saturday night. Roger Witt of Batesville, AR took his third win of the season on Saturday night at West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO driving The Chrome Shop Special.

Ryan King of Seymour, TN picked up his first NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN driving the Brian King Roofing Stinger. The victory moved King up to the third spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS point standings.

Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA continued his winning ways with his eighth NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series victory of the season on Saturday at Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS driving the J. Dunning Sandblasting and Painting Special. Robert Diekemper of Bloomingdale, GA was a first-time winner this season at 441 Speedway in Dublin, GA on Saturday night driving the Diekemper Racing Special.

Kitt Sealy of Moultrie, GA took his first NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at Albany Motor Speedway in Albany, GA driving the B&S Concrete Special.

Sealy also donated his time and talent on Saturday night to benefit the local chapter of the American Cancer Society at Albany Motor Speedway. Sealy gave winning race fans the “Ride For Life” in the specially built two-seat dirt late model race car from the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series events at Deep South Speedway in Loxley, AL, East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL, Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, and Whynot Motorsports in Meridian, MS were all rained out on Saturday night.

Tony Lawson of Laurel, MS continues to lead the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings after the first seven weeks of competition, and holds a 15-point lead over Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS. Lawson has 377 points in the Lawson Construction Special and Lee has 362 points in the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star.

King is third with 347 points followed by Scott Ladner of Lumberton, MS in the Billy Riels Racing GRT and Trosclair, who are tied for the fourth spot with 343 points apiece. Daniel Bridgeman of Meridian, MS is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 339 points in the Robinson Electric Rocket.

Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS is seventh in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 333 points in the Billy Riels Racing/Reynolds Motorsports GRT. Jeremy Shaw of Millport, AL is eighth with 322 points in the Summit Resource Development Trak-Star.

The 2011 and two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS in the McDuffie Racing Trak-Star is tied for the ninth spot with McRee at 317 points in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings.

Trak-Star Race Cars leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge point standings with 11 wins, and defending and four-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR is second after Wallace gave them their fifth win of the season.

King gave Stinger Race Cars built by J.T. Kerr Racing Equipment in Rockford, TN their second win of the season and moved them into a tie for the third spot with Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN. Glisson gave Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV their first win of the season and the fifth spot, while TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN is still looking for their first win of the season.
