FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Hesston Speedway Adds RACEceiver/Westhold Transponder System to Benefit Race Teams

(Hesston, PA) Less than a month ago, Hesston Speedway announced that it would be re-implementing the transponder system that was previously used at the speedway. The system was re-activated for the 2012 season opener with perfect results. However, promoter DR Eriksen, the “Dirt Doctor,” is dedicated to do what is best for the race teams. With further research, it was decided that a Weshold/RACEceiver transponder system would be purchased to replace the current system.

Hesston Speedway placed the order with Westhold today and is hopeful to have the new system in place for the $33,000 “Superthunder Road by the Lake” Speedmonster vs. 3 State Flyers event on May 27. The new RACEceiver/Westhold system will be compatible with both the RACEceiver/Westhold (yellow) transponders and the current My Laps/AMB transponders. DR Eriksen is spending thousands of dollars on this new system totally because of the benefit to the race teams. The RACEceiver/Westhold sells for approximately $200 less than the other transponders. Additionally, several area tracks are using the RACEceiver/Westhold system such as Hagerstown and Winchester. The competitors from these tracks can use their own transponders now when racing at Hesston.

Hesston will have a supply of RACEceiver/Westhold transponder sets to sell to race teams for only $230. The set includes the rechargeable transponder, charger and mounting bracket. This set retails for $240 on the RACEceiver website. Hesston will continue to allow race teams to borrow the current transponders until July 31, but race teams are encouraged to purchase their own transponder as soon as it is feasible. Transponder ownership will save time transponder check in and return, as well as mounting it each time they come to the track. After July 31, transponders will be rented for $25/night. A transponder purchase is the more economical option after just 10 races.

Transponders will be used on Super Late Models, Semi-Late Model Sportsman, Cadets and Hobby-Modifieds in 2012. All teams with RACEceiver/Westhold or My Laps/AMB transponders are asked to bring them to Hesston for “Superthunder Road” on May 27. In case the RACEceiver/Westhold system is not functional by that date, Hesston will have approximately 75 My Laps/AMB transponders for race teams without My Laps/AMB transponders. All race teams with transponders are asked to email their transponder number to hesstonspeedway@hotmail.com before arriving to speed up the registration process.

“Superthunder Road” at Hesston on May 27 will feature the Speedmonster and 3 State Flyers Super Late Models racing for $5,100 to win, $400 to start and $155 for non-qualifiers at “Superthunder Road.” The S³/3SF Super Late Models will compete in a 51-lap championship celebrating the 51st year since Hesston was built.

Hesston’s Speedmonster events will be a bonanza to late model race fans! The 2-division late model program will also include the Semi-Late Model Sportsman (limited/crate/steel block late models). The Semi-Late Model Sportsman will compete in a full racing program with a 30 lap feature paying $1,000 to win, $125 to start and $100 for non-qualifiers. A $200 bonus is being offered to the 1st crate late model competitor that can finish in the top 5 in the feature. Crate late models receive a weight break and 12” spoiler to make them competitive.

A-Cadets (street/pro-stock), Hobby-Modified (pure/strictly stock/charger) and Roadrunners (fwd stock 4-cylinder) will also compete in championship events. The A-Cadets will race in a full racing program with time limits. The scheduled 22-lap feature will pay $575 to win, $75 to start and $60 for non-qualifiers. The Hobby-Modified and Roadrunners will run in a feature-only format after the completion of the other 3 classes and the final session of the program. The scheduled 17-lap Hobby-Modified feature will pay $300 to win, $50 to start and $40 for non-qualifiers. The scheduled 14-lap Roadrunner feature will pay $200 to win, $38 to start and $36 for non-qualifiers. Hobby-Modified and Roadrunner feature laps may be extended depending on car counts.

Integrated, multi-option rules sets for the Super Late Models, Semi-Late Model Sportsman, A-Cadets and Hobby-Modifieds will make virtually every car in the regional legal and competitive for the Speedmonster events. Weight breaks and spoiler variances are used to equalize competition. Full rules can be found on the track website http://www.hesstonspeedway.com
Speedmonster/Hesston rules apply for the Super Late Models at all 2012 Hesston events. Super Late Models will run under an open compound tire rule.
