CARTERSVILLE, GA – NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 8 competition produced another shuffle in the Top 10 of the point standings with Bonus Points and double features at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS coming into play. Tony Lawson of Laurel, MS continues to lead the point standings in the quest for the $10,000 top prize at the end of the season.

Lawson finished second on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL in the Lawson Construction Special and also earned 25 Bonus Points for his fourth straight week of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition. Lawson has 451 points to hold a 14-point lead over Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS, and has accumulated his maximum of 100 Bonus Points.

Lee picked up his third win of the season on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS by topping an 18-car field in the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star, and he also added 25 Bonus Points for his fourth straight week of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition. Lee now has earned 437 points.

Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS ran the double features at Greenville Speedway and vaulted up to the third spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series points chase with 423 points. Barrett drove the Custom Spraying, Inc. GRT to a third-place finish in the Week7 make-up race, and followed that up with a second-place finish in the Week 8 event. Barrett also added 25 Bonus Points after four straight weeks of competition.

Ryan King of Seymour, TN turned in his second straight win at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN on Saturday night driving the Brian King Roofing Stinger and added 25 Bonus Points for his fourth straight week of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition. King is fourth in the standings with 422 points.

Daniel Bridgeman of Meridian, MS used a third-place finish and 25 Bonus Points on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway to settle into the fifth spot of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 412 points in the Robinson Electric Rocket.

Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA notched his ninth win of the season on Saturday night at Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS driving the J. Dunning Sandblasting and Painting Special, and also picked up 25 Bonus Points. Even with six of his nine wins being 40-point victories with car counts less than eight cars, Trosclair still sits sixth in the standings with 408 points.

Scott Ladner of Lumberton, MS and Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS are tied for the seventh spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 407 points apiece. Both drivers added 25 Bonus Points to their totals with their fourth straight weeks of competition.

Ladner turned in a 39-point second-place finish on Saturday night at Pike County Speedway in the Billy Riels Racing GRT and Jordan had a sixth-place and an eighth-place finish on Saturday night in the double-features at Greenville Speedway in the Henderson Waste and Recycling Trak-Star.

Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS is ninth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 405 points. Arnold drove the Billy Riels Racing/Reynolds Motorsports GRT to a fourth-place finish on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway, and also picked up 25 Bonus Points for his fourth straight week of competition.

Chase Washington of Houlka, MS rounds out the Top 10 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings after the first eight weeks of competition with 344 points. Washington finished third on Saturday night in the Week 8 feature race at Greenville Speedway driving the Jerry Inmon Racing Special.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 8 action, Jeff Glisson of Boaz, KY picked up his second straight win on Friday night at Malden Speedway in Malden, MO driving the SGR Equipment Rocket, and Rodgerick Dykes of Smith Station, AL took the Friday night win at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL driving the Dykes Racing Warrior.

On Saturday night, Kyle Berry of Portageville, MO was the winner for the second straight week at Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN driving the Berry Roofing Special, and Hunter Carroll of Columbus, MS took his first victory of the season at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS driving the Muffler Magic Special.

Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL drove the Adam Gauldin Racing GRT to his third win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track, and Duke Palasini of Leland, MS was the Week 7 winner on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway for his third victory of the season in the Palasini Farms Special. Greg Fore of Greenville, MS was the Week 8 Greenville Speedway winner in the Pesqualies Pizza Special.

Lee’s Week 8 win gives two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL their point leading 12th victory of the season. Defending and four-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR is second after Gauldin gave them their sixth win of the season.

King gave Stinger Race Cars built by J.T. Kerr Racing Equipment in Rockford, TN their third win of the season and they remain tied for the third spot with Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN, as Dykes got them their third win of the season. Glisson gave Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV their second win of the season and the fifth spot, while TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN is still looking for their first win of the season.
