Madisonville, KY's Bryce Jewell was coming off his long waited first
"W" of the season and #5 in the nation Tyler Nicely of Owensboro, KY
was looking to capture his first checkered flag of the season Saturday
night at Cedar Ridge Speedway.
Jewell paced the field in qualifying and easily captured the first
heat. Nicely followed up with a run away win of his own in the second
heat race of the night.
Nicely was able to drive under Jewell on the opening lap of the
feature and Jewell kept it door to door for the first third of the
race. Nearly half way into the event it looked as if Nicely was
checking out for his first win of the season, but a late race caution
bunched the field back together. Jewell over drove turn one on the
restart, but a quick line adjustment allowed him to get back to
Nicely's bumper with in a lap. Jewell kept the new line and passed
Nicely on the high side running away with the last 3 laps to capture
his second win of the season. Nicely came home in second for his
seventh runner-up finish on the season.
Jon Smith and Haley Westerfield paced the field in the UMP Limited
Modified feature race. #2 in the nation Haley Westerfield captured
the heat race, but Smith took the checkers in a door to door race with
Westerfield in the feature.
