FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
“Superthunder Road” at Hesston Rescheduled for June 10!
(Hesston, PA) With the pits full of cars and a large spectator turnout, Speedmonster vs. 3 State Flyers “Superthunder Road” was washed out when a massive thunderstorm hit the track during the 2nd Cadet heat. With the strong support of the race teams and race fans, the decision was made to reschedule the event for Sunday, June 10.
The S³/3SF Super Late Models will pay $5,100 to win, $400 to start and $155 for non-qualifiers. Semi-Late Model Sportsman (limited/crate/steel block late models) will pay $1,000 to win, $125 to start and $100 for non-qualifiers. Additionally a $200 bonus is being offered to the 1st crate late model with a top 5 finish at the race. A-Cadets (street/pro-stock) will pay $575 to win, $75 to start and $60 for non-qualifiers. Hobby-Modifieds will pay $300 to win, $50 to start and $40 for non-qualifiers in a feature-only format. Roadrunner (4-cylinder stock fwd) will pay $200 to win, $38 to start and $36 for non-qualifiers in a feature-only format.
A huge car count turned out for the event before the weather ruined the racing surface for the night. 72 late model-type cars were signed in including 45 Super Late Models and 27 Semi-Late Model Sportsman. The Super Late Models were set to run in 6 qualifying heats. 127 total cars had registered for the event in 5 divisions. According to Speedmonster rules, all drivers that were present on May 27 will receive 70 show up points since warm-ups had begun. A complete new draw will be held on June 10, so any new entries are welcome.
“Superthunder Road” will now take place on Sunday, June 10. Tentative plans will move all gate times and start times 30 minutes earlier than the original schedule. This will be confirmed during the week. All tickets and armbands from May 27 will be honored for full face value for the rain date. With the rescheduling of this event, no racing will be held on Saturday, June 9.
The Speedmonster Super Series consists of 6 events at Hesston only leading to “The Ultiamte” in October. The Speedmonster champion will receive $2,000 from the $5,000 total point fund. This point fund is courtesy of Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic, American Racer, Lias Tire and Precise Racing Products. This point fund is being paid IN ADDITION to the 3 State Flyers $3,000 to win Niningers Tire & Auto Point Fund. With no conflicting races between the 2 series and 4 of the 6 Speedmonste races including 3 State Flyers, drivers can run for BOTH point funds in 2012!
Integrated, multi-option rules sets for the Super Late Models, Semi-Late Model Sportsman, A-Cadets and Hobby-Modifieds will make virtually every car in the regional legal and competitive for the Speedmonster events. Weight breaks and spoiler variances are used to equalize competition. Full rules can be found on the track website http://www.hesstonspeedway.com
Speedmonster/Hesston rules apply for the Super Late Models at all 2012 Hesston events. Super Late Models will run under an open compound tire rule.
For those who do not hold rain checks, adult admission for “Superthunder Road” to the grandstands is $19.05 + $.95 tax = $20. Junior 10-16 grandstand admission is $14.29 + $.71 tax = $15.00. Children 9 and under are FREE in the grandstands. Pit admission is $34.29 + $1.71 tax = $36.00. Super Late Models will have a $15 entry fee with no entry fee for other divisions.
Hesston Speedway currently requires My Laps/AMB (red) transponders for all Super Late Models, Late Model Sportsman, Cadets and Hobby. The RACEceiver/Westhold (yellow) transponder system has been purchased and should be functional for “Superthunder Road.” The RACEceiver/Westhold system works with both types of transponers. The track will have a limited number of transponders available for races that do not own one, free of charge through July 31. The RACEceiver/Westhold transponder package including transponder, charger and bracket will be sold for only $230 at Hesston. Race teams without transponders should plan to arrive early to allow time to mount the transponder. All racers that use track transponders must purchase a transponder bracket, available for $10 at the track. All divisions are required to use RACEceiver one-way radios.
