CARTERSVILLE, GA – There are 15 points paying events at 13 different tracks in 5 different states during Week 10 of the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season. One event was held on Monday night, and there are two NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division events this weekend with Weekly Racing Series Bonus Points up for grabs.

Ricky Waggoner of Martin, TN opened NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 10 competition with a victory on Monday night at Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN driving the Taylormade Performance Special. Clayhill Motorsports will host a second Week 10 event this Saturday night.

There four races on the schedule for Friday night, along with the 40-lap $2,000-to-win NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division race at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA. Eligible drivers can receive 25 Bonus Points for participating in that event.

Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS, Malden Speedway in Malden, MO, Smokey Harris Speedway in Haleburg, AL, and Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS will be in action on Friday night. Smokey Harris Speedway will host its first Friday night show of the season, and Columbus Speedway will run a double-header weekend, also running on Saturday night.

Also in action with NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Saturday night events are Deep South Speedway in Loxley, AL, East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL, Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS, Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

Eligible NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competitors can earn 25 Bonus Points on Saturday night by competing with the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division in the $4,000-to-win J.T. Kerr Memorial 40 at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN.

With the 27-week NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season at the one-third mark, Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS holds an 11 point lead over Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS, with Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS in the third spot, 21 points behind Barrett. In the first nine weeks of competition, 325 drivers have competed in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series events.

Drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series compete against each other using a points system that counts their best 14 week point totals, plus up to 100 bonus points, over the 27-week season. They are competing for a $20,000 point fund that pays back ten spots at the end of the season. The 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Champion will earn a $10,000 top prize.

The dirt late model race cars in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series are powered by the economical Chevrolet Performance Crate Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications. There are two engines to choose from, the 400 horsepower aluminum-head 604 engine and the 350 horsepower steel-head 602 engine that gets a 100-pound weight break.
