NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Round Up For June 4

Roby Helm, CARTERSVILLE, GA – There was plenty of action, but not much movement among the Top 10 drivers during Week 10 of the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season. Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS continues to lead the point standings with a ten point advantage over Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS.

Barrett drove the Custom Spraying GRT to a third-place finish on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS and Lee turned in a second-place effort on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS driving the Billy Riels Racing GRT. After the first ten weeks of the 27-week season, Barrett has 567 points and Lee has 557 points.

Barrett has earned the maximum of 100 Bonus Points, and Lee has earned 75 Bonus Points. Lee can still earn another 25 Bonus Points by competing in four straight weeks of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition, or by competing in a NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring event.



Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 545 points, including 100 Bonus Points. Jordan finished fourth on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway driving the Henderson Waste and Recycling Trak-Star to stay in the hunt for the $10,000 NeSmith Chevrolet WRS Championship.

Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA drove the J. Dunning Sandblasting and Painting Special to his 11th win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park and remains fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 533 points. The engine in Trosclair’s race car was protested, and the win is unofficial pending inspection to take place today.

Scott Ladner of Lumberton, MS is fifth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 525 points after a seventh-place finish on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park. Trosclair and Ladner can still earn an additional 25 Bonus Points.

Ryan King of Seymour, TN is sixth with 520 points after picking up 50 Bonus points for competing in the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division events on Friday night at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA and on Saturday night at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN. King has now earned all of his 100 Bonus Points.

Daniel Bridgeman of Meridian, MS drove the Robinson Electric Rocket to an eighth-place finish on Saturday night at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS and is seventh in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 505 points. Tony Lawson of Laurel, MS is eighth with 494 points after finishing eighth on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in the Lawson Construction Special.

Chase Washington of Houlka, MS picked up his fifth win of the season on Saturday night at Columbus Speedway in the Jerry Inmon Racing Special to move up to the ninth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 493 points. Bridgeman, Lawson and Washington have all earned their quota of 100 Bonus Points.

Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS rounds out the Top 10 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 478 points. Arnold finished third on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in the Billy Riels Racing/Reynolds Motorsports GRT and can still earn 25 Bonus Points.

Ricky Waggoner of Martin, TN opened NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 10 competition on May 28 with a victory at Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN driving the Taylormade Performance Special.

On Friday night, it was Jeremy Shaw of Millport, AL taking his fourth win of the season at Columbus Speedway in the Summit Resource Development Trak-Star, and Kyle Berry of Portageville, MO took his third win of the season at Malden Speedway in Malden, MO in the Berry Roofing Special.

Shawn Knuckles of Poplar Bluff, MO drove the Sawford’s Service GRT to his first victory of the season on Saturday night at Clayhill Motorsports, and Joey Thomas of Seale, AL continued his winning ways on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL with his sixth win of the season driving the BTR/Scorpion Race Cars Special.

Duke Palasini of Leland, MS posted win number four of the season in the Palasini Farms Special at Greenville Speedway, Jake Knight of Georgetown, MS took his first win of the season on Saturday night at Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS driving the Got Dirt, Inc. Trak-Star.

The 2007 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region Champion Logan Yates of Delta, AL took his first win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL driving the Megan Miller Yates Attorney At Law Special. Saturday night racing at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS was rained out.

Two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL picked up two wins in Week 10 competition from Shaw and Knight to bring their leading total up two 14.

The defending and four-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR is five wins back with nine victories after picking up a Week 10 win from Knuckles.

Stinger Race Cars built by J.T. Kerr Racing Equipment of Rockford, TN and Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN are tied for the third spot with three wins apiece. Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV is fifth with two wins, while TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN is still looking for their first win of the season.
