American Modified Series Debuts at Wartburg Speedway This Saturday June 9

Glasgow, KY-June 6, 2012- The American Modified Series returns to action this Saturday evening June 9 with a stop at another new venue for the series as it visits the ¼ mile Wartburg Speedway in Wartburg, TN for a $1,500 to win/$200 to start event in the tour’s first visit to the Volunteer State for the 2012 season.

On Saturday June 9 at Wartburg Speedway in Wartburg, TN, the American Modified Series will present a full program of practice, A-B group time trials, qualifying heats, B-Mains, and a 30 lap, $1,500 to win A-Main event. Other divisions in competition at Wartburg Speedway on Saturday June 9 will include Late Models, Street Stocks, Modified Minis, Extreme, and Thunder Car divisions. Gates open at 3:30 p.m. and practice laps get underway at 6:00 p.m. local time, followed by time trials and green flag racing action.

The A-Main purse for the June 9 Wartburg Speedway event is as follows: 1st- $1,500, 2nd- $750, 3rd- $600, 4th- $550, 5th- $500, 6th- $450, 7th- $400, 8th- $350, 9th- $325, 10th- $300, 11th- $275, 12th- $250, 13th- $230, 14th- $220, 15th through 22nd- $200 to start.

The American Modified Series last competed on Saturday June 2 and Sunday June 3 as Brian Shaw of Robinson, IL won the series opener at Clay County Speedway in Flora, IL on Saturday June 2, while Keith Smith of Clay City, KY won the Sunday June 3 event at Windy Hollow Speedway in Owensboro, KY. Kentucky drivers Trent Young, Jimmy Payne, and Rocky Wilson hold down the first three positions in series points, while Illinois natives Levi Kissinger and Brian Shaw complete the top five in series points headed into the Wartburg Speedway event on Saturday June 9.

The American Modified Series will present UMP Modified sanctioned dirt track sports entertainment at racing venues throughout Kentucky, Illinois, and Tennessee.
