Ponderosa Speedway Off June 15; Full Program June 22, Pete Abell Memorial June 23
Junction City, KY- June 10, 2012- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Larry Yantz and co-promoters Chad and Sarah Yantz will have the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” closed this Friday evening June 15 before returning with a doubleheader of weekend racing competition on Friday June 22 and Saturday June 23. The track will be closed on Friday June 15 for the Lake Cumberland Classic at Lake Cumberland Speedway in nearby Burnside, KY.
Ponderosa Speedway returns with racing competition with a weekend doubleheader of racing competition on Friday June 22 and Saturday June 23. The Friday June 22 racing event will feature a full program of weekly racing series action for all divisions at the 3/8 D-shaped red clay oval. The following evening, on Saturday June 23, the track will present the 17th Annual Pete Abell Memorial race, paying $2,000 to win for Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models, along with all other divisions in action as well.
Ponderosa Speedway last raced on Friday May 25 and feature event winners included Victor Lee of Danville, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models, Elliott Despain of Campbellsville, KY in Clayton Homes Modifieds, Gerald Haynes, Jr. of Somerset, KY in Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman, and Rusty Light of Nancy, KY in Bob Allen Motor Mall Front Wheel Drives.
Current track championship points leaders heading into the Friday June 22 and Saturday June 23 racing events include Michael Chilton of Salvisa, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models, Elliott Despain of Campbellsville, KY in Clayton Homes Modifieds, Donnie Sullivan of Stanford, KY in Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman, and Brandon Lucas of New Haven, KY in Bob Allen Motor Mall Front Wheel Drives.
