Delane Browning earns career high with Modified Bash victory at Richmond Raceway!
RICHMOND, KY (June 9, 2012)-Delane Browning of East Bernstadt, KY scored one of his biggest career wins with 3rd Annual Open Wheel Modified Bash at Richmond Raceway paying $1,500 to win.
Browning took the race lead from top qualifier Scott Lemaster after he spun in turn one on lap three of the 30 lap affair. Browning continued to maintain a comfortable lead but Russ Gabbert was closing fast followed closely by Josh Lucas, David Adams, and Keith Smith. Chad Scott slipped past Smith for the fifth spot on lap 10 as the field began to hot lap traffic. A sudden change of events came on lap 13 when Browning got loose in turn one allowing Gabbert around him on the high side; Browning was able to keep control and hold on to the second place position.
Browning was not giving up easy as he and Gabbert battled side-by-side for several laps before Browning regained the lead on lap 20. Gabbert would take his machine pit side one circuit later allowing Jimmy Crabtree to enter the top five. Chad Scott had worked his way up to the third position by lap 22 when disaster stuck as he barrel rolled off turn two on lap 23. After quick response from Rural Metro Ambulance Service that was on location, Scott was able to walk away from the crash at his own will.
Back underway with Browning still out front, Keith Smith moved past Crabtree to claim the fourth spot. Browning led the remaining laps to claim the victory in the 3rd Annual Open Wheel Modified Bash and the $1,500 payday. David Adams made a last lap pass on Josh Lucas for second spot. Lucas held on for third followed by Keith Smith and Jimmy Crabtree rounding out the top five.
Other feature event winners included Todd Coffman in the $1,500 to win Coyote 100.7 FM Super Late Model special. Ricky Brandenburg, Jr. scored his first victory of 2012 at Richmond Raceway in the Sportsman division. Glen Hounshell, Sr., won the Road Hog feature and Thomas Scenters drove to his first ever career victory in the Four Cylinder division.
