Berck, O’Brien bag SLMR wins

The SLMR series was in action on both Friday and Saturday night this past weekend in quest of the Malvernbank.com “Race for the Safe.” First, on Friday, June 8 at the I-80 Speedway it was the “Marquette Missile” Kyle Berck coming from his eighth starting position to take the lead from pole sitter Mike Wiarda on lap 15 and driving to a convincing victory. Wiarda finished second, Jason O’Brien third, Corey Zeitner fourth and series point leader Mike Collins fifth.

Kevin Hamele – Sardeson First Man Out Award

Then on Saturday night at the Adams County Speedway in Corning, Iowa fifth starting Jason O’Brien of Atlantic, Iowa took the lead late in the race from local driver Trent Jackson and drove to his second SLMR victory of the season. Travis (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)es charged from ninth to finish second with Jackson third, J. C. Wyman fourth and Justin Zeitner fifth.

Mike Collins continues to lead the “Race for the Safe” point battle with Justin Zeitner just eight points behind. Travis (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)es and Leon Zeitner are tied for third, 14 points back of Collins with Corey Zeitner in fifth 22 points behind the leader. The next stop on the SLMR tour will be Saturday, June 16 at the Riviera Raceway in Norfolk, NE.
