On the racing card will be Late Models-$2,000 to win, Jordan Heating & Cooling UMP Modifieds-$600 to win, Steel Block Late Models-$500 to win, GCP Engines Sport Mods, and Classic Cars.

Fan and Driver Appreciation Night
As part of the Fan and Driver Appreciation Night, admission prices have been cut for general admission tickets and pit passes on Friday. General admission is $10 for ages 17 and up, $3 for ages 13-16, and free for ages 12 and under. Pit passes are $22 for ages 13 and up, $12 for ages 7-12, and free for ages 6 and under. In addition to the decreased admission prices, there will also be multiple giveaways for the fans and drivers. Two free pit passes will be given to a driver in each class as part of a random drawing.

New Track Prep Approach
Following dusty track conditions at least Friday’s Southern 100, SOS officials will be implementing several new track prep techniques this week. The goal of the new techniques will be to open the surface up to get a lot of moisture down into the track surface. Officials are planning on putting double the normal amount of water on the track this week. In addition to that, a chemist has been called in to help with the dust control efforts. The track is making every effort possible to ensure minimal to no dust this Friday and all future races.

Late Model Preview
“The Salt Rock Express” Eddie Carrier Jr. comes into Friday as the points leader in the Late Model division. Carrier has led the points since the first race and now has a 100 point lead following his victory in the Pepsi Southern 100. Second place points runner R. J. Conley comes into Friday with a lot of momentum after having fast time for the Southern 100, a third place finish in his qualifying feature, and a sixth place finish in the championship feature. After missing three races early in the spring, Jackie Boggs has now moved up into the fourth position in points following a strong Southern 100 showing that saw Boggs finish second in his qualifying feature and fourth in the championship feature. Jackson, Ohio’s Greggie Oliver also carries a ton of momentum after winning his $2,000 qualifying feature and placing an excellent third place in the championship feature.

Despite the dust last week, the racing action in the Late Model division was still excellent with lead changes in two of the three features. In the three features ran last week combined, only four drivers finished in the position that they started on. Some more excellent racing in the Late Model division is expected on Friday.

Jordan Heating & Cooling UMP Modified Preview
Just like the Late Model division, the Jordan Heating & Cooling UMP Modified division has been producing excellent racing action each week. Last Friday, Indiana driver Joey Kramer took the $1,000 win while Jeremy Rayburn finished in the second position to extend his points lead. Top runners such as Luke Jordan, Brian Skaggs, Jimmy Adams, Jake Keaton, Eric Hatfield, Adam Colley, and Kevin Graham have all ran great this year and will be looking for their first win of the season on Friday while Rayburn, Todd Robinson, and Dave Jamison will look to add to their win totals.

Steel Block Late Model Preview
For the first time this season, Steel Block Late Models will take to the track. Steel Block Late Models will be running the same rules as the Late Models except they must run a steel block and run hard tires on all fours. The Steel Block Late Models will offer some exciting racing action as the class is the fastest growing class in the region. Running the Steel Blocks on Friday will offer Late Model fans an opportunity to see two classes of Late Models on the same night. Jeff Arnold won the lone Steel Block Late Model race held at the track in the new-era back in August of 2011.

GCP Engines Sport Mod Preview
Eric Dennison comes into Friday as the points leader in the GCP Engines Sport Mod division. The class is also coming off of it’s largest car count of the season back on June 8th with 13 cars. The class is continuing to grow and the racing action has been incredible. More great racing is expected in the GCP Engines Sport Mod class this Friday.

Classic Cars Preview
The Classic Cars, first introduced at SOS back in May, have offered some really exciting, economical racing. Mike Christy has two feature wins in the Classic’s while Brett Carey has one feature win. Another great night of racing is expected on Friday in the Classic Car division.
