Curtis Cook Scores CCSDS Win at Beebe Speedway
Beebe, Arkansas (06/22/12) – The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Super Late Model rolled into its home track, Beebe Speedway (Beebe, Arkansas) on Friday night for a $2,000-to-win event, and it was 2011 CCSDS Rookie of the Year, Curtis Cook, who claimed the win.
The event, which served as the second round of the RiceTec/RiceSelect Summer Series, saw twenty-four entries sign in for battle, and via heat race action it was Russellville, Arkansas' driver Jon Kirby, who earned the New Vision Graphics Pole Position for the 35 lap feature.(not a nice word)He was joined on the front row by Timothy Culp.(not a nice word)The front row duo would battle for the lead in the opening laps before third starting, Curtis Cook, overtook Culp for the top spot.
Cook would find the going far from easy out front as Culp challenged for the lead during the first half of the race.(not a nice word)As the race progressed into its late stages Kirby worked his way past Culp into the second spot and would make a bid for the top spot only to have a caution nullify the pass.(not a nice word)
Curtis Cook went on to claim his first win of the season, which came over Culp, Kirby, Brandon Smith, and Kevin Sitton.
GRT Race Cars Heat Race #1 was won by Timothy Culp with Curtis Cook winning NEA Super Gas/Killer Coatings Heat Race #2.(not a nice word)RiceTec Heat Race #3 saw Tommy Surrett claim the win, while Jon Kirby won Racing Head Service Heat Race #4.
Brandon Smith earned the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger Award for advancing from his eleventh starting spot to a fourth place finish.(not a nice word)Tommy Surrett received the Quarter Master Hard Luck Award after seeing mechanical issues end his night early in the event.
